I took the diagnostic test on the LSAT last saturday and got a pretty good score. To get into a really good school though I need between 6 and ten more points. I am taking Kaplan and my test date isn’t until October, so I think I have time to improve. I was wondering if there are any supplements I could take to enhance my mental powers on the day of the big test. I heard glutamine could help, are there any other supplements?
Powerdrive. It’s that simple. Just start taking it early as its effects increase with time. Plus it’ll keep you mentally sharp as you study for your test. Works for me when I can afford it.
I took LSAT in Feb and got a 170 on my first try, pretty decent
I don’t think any of those brain supplements will help, this is not a memorization test. The key is to RELAX. Diagnostic tests will sometimes be misleading because of the different pressures you will have while taking them. If anything, eat a good high protein low carb breakfast and get used to waking up early in the morning and thinking.
Piracetam, do a search on the web, it’s a nootropic drug, very safe.
go to yahoo newsgroup smartdrugs if you want the list of drugs and supplements.
DMAE which is in power drive promotes production of acetylcholine which is helpful in memory recall power drive elevates your mood in general “good stuff”
Maclar, how much piracetam do you suggest taking and how often? You say it is really safe, but is it ok for long term(over a year) use?
Powerdrive. It helps mental alertness and clarity.
phosphatidylserine. best stuff that i have ever found.
Aderol(prescription)really helps you focus, stronger then ridilin, and Focus Factor (Blend of viatmins) takes a week to load up.
Look on www.smart-drugs.com. There is a lot of information there.
Power Drive with a caffeine tablet.
DHA. Fish oils. Start takiung them now if you already aren’t, and start taking more if you already are.
Does anyone have any hard numbers to throw out? For example, IQ scores before and after a drug or supplement?
Did you use any study guides for the LSAT? Or rather, what did you do to prepare yourself for the test.
Congratulations by the way that is an impressive score.
If you’re looking for IQ differences between the taking group and the not taking group, you won’t find them. It just gives you a feeling of mental clarity. I feel very focused and seem to get more done with fewer distractions. Just gotta try it to see.
Many of the companies advertising so-called “nootropic” drugs report actual increases in intelligence/problem solving capabilities. I’m just curious if anyone can quantify these claims. If you’re just looking for “clarity” or for a mood enhancer, I think that is a different sort of claim.
Caligula, you might want to look into something called “image streaming,” as described by Dr. Win Wenger. The first (and unfortunately only) study done on it showed that IQ scores went up in proportion to the amount of time spent image-streaming. An excellent book is The Einstein Factor, which lays out image-streaming as well as a few other techniques for improving mental performance.
In addition to just maintaining good nutrition and health (including, as mentioned above, plenty of fish oils, which improved my mental stability & clarity more than any drug), I would highly reccomend Pikamilone. It helps with blood circulation, but that’s secondary – it is really magnificent at imparting a sense of relaxed calm without any CNS depression. I reccomended it for a friend who freaks out way too easily on the freeway…he turned into Iceman after a week of pikamilone. It’s also nice because it has both long-term cumulative benefits, but unlike most other ‘smart drugs’ you get the alert calmness within 1/2 hour or so of your first tablet. It’s not illegal and fairly easy to obtain, just do a search on the web.
Did you like the book? I actually just bought it two nights ago and started reading yesterday.
