Supplements for the brain

Greg, I liked the book, and it was a fairly quick read. He also has some very interesting points about feedback and its relation to learning/intelligence. Looking over the data from the one “experiment,” however, the standard deviation is around 16, and the actual average improvement in IQ was only 9 points, so it seems that the initial study was flawed. What do you hope to get out of the book? I honestly don’t believe that my IQ has gone up measurably by using the techniques, but the tests I have access to have fairly low ceilings. You might want to check out “How to Be Twice as Smart,” btw. Rather than focusing on fundamentally changing the biology, the author has a lot of really interesting ideas for “using what you have” more efficiently. Most of the ideas are not standard “study smart” stuff that you’d already know.

I actually was looking into NLP when I found it. It looked like an interesting read so I picked it up. The funny thing is the more I read about NLP and this book the more and more they become similiar. I think they are on to something. I like learning alternate ways of learning. Some things I pick up quickly others I cant get.

Try using brain foods with high
building block desity for the brain.
Espically applicable is fresh omega 3
fish like wild salmon, wild tuna, etc.
Omega 3 oil fish that are minimally cooked
likly to offer the best results. because
the oils are heat sensitive.

I really can’t recommend NLP. I studied it for a few years, and while you learn some neat tricks for “state control,” I’ve never found anything that really helps you learn better. Dilts published a book in which he demonstrated a technique for teaching spelling by holding the word to the upper right of the field of vision, but that is the only example I ever see anywhere concerning accelerated learning. I think the general consensus is “sure, NLP can do it.” If you ask how, or using what techniques, you get a hearty good-old-boy slap on the back and a guffaw. Or, they start doing some “optimum learning” induction on you. In short, it makes you think you’re smarter without any of the benefits of truly being smarter.

Well I wasnt going to use it for that main purpose in mind. I am more interested in the sales aspect of it. Thanks fo the info.
