i am scheduled to have my 2nd acl reconstruction next month and was hoping to do some planning ahead of time. one concern for me would be how to preserve muscle mass and recover the best way possible. although i will still be able to train my upperbody ( not till maybe 3-4 weeks post op though), i was wondering what supplements would be most beneficial with regards to saving leam muscle mass and recovery.
i heard of creatine and bcaa ( open to other suggestions…) among others as being very beneficial. can anyone guide me on the rec0mmended dosage and timings in taking these?
another question would be with regards to fish oil. do you guys thinki should stop taking before the operation? if so, how long before surgery should i stop taking it and how soon after should i start taking it again?

Sorry to hear about the knees. I’ve had 2 ACL reconstructions myself (4 knee surgeries total). BCAAs can definitly help you maintain some LBM, but you should really focus on eating as well as you can as your recovering. As for the fish oil, I’m not exactly sure about how long the blood thinning effects take to happen/stop happening. I would just stop supplementing with them now.
