Supersets??

Okay im 15 years old…and am looking to bulk up. So i just currently hired a trainer. Every now and then he will have me do supersets only allowing me to rest at the end of the 3rd set.

Typically all he has me do is go from bench press to push ups on a swiss ball. Is this good for bulking up? Should i speak up and tell him that i dont want to be doing Supersets?

P.S: I told him i wanted to bulk up and questioned him about the supersets but he said that in order to build mass you need to build endurance and strenght and THEN the mass will come. is this true?

Yea that is the point of the superset, you do one exercise back to back with another. I recommend you super set those benches with some type of rowing movement (DB Rows, BB Rows, T-bar).

Supersets are good for bulking. Doing alot of reps is a good way to make you grow. Personally I don’t like to superset anything with my bench, squat or deadlift but thats my own thing. The trainer probubly knows what hes doing. The thing about bulking is how your eating. Don’t expect to get real big by just going to the gym.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Most trainers have not a frickin clue.

And this one, with the “pushups on a swiss ball” appears to be pretty darn dumb.

You are smart to question him. I’d drop him and go by a book. I suggest “New Rules of Lifting” It’s got a years worth of workouts for beginners for probably $20.
