Look online for videos of the fight scenes. I don’t have it know but I saw a random link for a crappy quality video of the last fight scene from Zod first flying to neck snap and it was under 7 minutes. I forget what happened before that part in the fight but I don’t think it was as long.
Thanks,
If it matters I also found the fight with Faora (I prefer to call her Ursa)too long also.
Do you know if an actor was playing the tall guy with her or was it CG? If you try to look it up I think the name is Nam-Ek but no credits on imdb.

It was too close to the Neo/ Agent Smith fight in Matrix Revolutions for my liking. They didn’t Green Lantern it up, but it was like the Hulk movies, where people complained about the lack of action then they pushed it too far and the same people complained about the excess.
The Batman movies scaled the surplus way back after Batman & Robin: the Fashion Show.

yeah, he looked CG. I thought of him as new Non.
Strangely, that scene reminded me of Thor fighting the gigantic Destroyer in that small New Mexico town.
I read some reviews with people complaining there weren’t enough funny moments.
Some people are fucking stupid, I was sniggering in that movie more than I was during Batman.
For example, the fight scene with Zod v Supes at the end where they are in a construction site - Zod pummels Superman back into the “162 Days Since Last Accident” sign, all the numbers fall off and it becomes 0.

That was an attempt at humor. If it worked for you then I guess it was a funnier movie.
Let’s just be glad they didn’t have any insurance jokes like most action movies make after some destruction happens.

I’m glad they didn’t try really hard to be funny. That rarely works. In fact, Avengers may be the only movie I’ve seen lately where they really tried to make a scene funny and it paid off completely (that Hulk smash scene with Loki).
Saw it last week. I enjoyed it 100%. It felt like a comic book. Yeah, the fight scenes were fast-paced, but it made sense considering who was fighting. It’s not something I was watching hoping to see the nuances of each punch. The fights didn’t feel drawn out too long, either. Kryptonians on earth are supposed to be tough to beat up.
I also thought Kevin Costner nailed it, getting across how the Kents tried to “humanize” Clark as best they could but always tried to prepare him for his future from day one. The end (not end scene, but the general way they ended the movie) felt rushed. “Okay, those three bad guys are taken care of. All done. Gonna blend in and keep an eye on things now.”
Overall, I definitely liked it but it left me kinda discouraged about the allegedly-eventual Justice League movie. Seeing what they did with Superman (how they portrayed his powers in the world), I can’t imagine how they can make it worthwhile to have Supes and Flash and Batman and Wonder Woman (and Martian Manhunter/Green Lantern/Aquaman/etc.) all in one flick. Special effects-wise and villain-wise, I don’t see how it can match The Avengers. Like, what’s going to make this uberpowered “god” team up with a grumpy guy with gadgets and a handful of other freaks?
I’ve read rumors about everything from Darkseid to a Luthor-Joker team-up as potential villains, but that’s kinda getting off-topic. Justice League rumormilling can fill a thread of its own.

All I know is…they need to get that chick from the new Fast and Furious movie (the cop sidekick to the Rock) to play Wonder Woman.
All this talk about the fight scene got me thinking. What if this reboot lasts long enough for Doomsday, maybe 3rd-4rth movie if they use Cavil in JLA. Can you imagine how they would have to top that for the battle that claims Supes?

The JLA would not work in this DC universe…unless they lower the members to maybe 3 major players and some wonder twins.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought the project already got the green light for 2015 so it would compete with Avengers 2? I am a Marvel guy, but my guess is Supes, Bat, GL, Cyborf, Flash and WW.

It has already been 3 major players for decades.
Supes is limited by…wait for it…STEALTH.
Yep…great place for Bats to take up slack. Superman is great with the headlining super evils that destroy the planet.
If you need to hijack a man out of a sky scraper in another country without it causing an international incident, you better have Bats on call.

Pretty sure from the movie standpoint Bale is done with Batman. Which I am OK with since in 2/3 movies he got overshadowed and acted by the villians.

GL??? I’m not sure it would work. His character does not transfer well in real life. The only way I could see DC doing this would be to send Superman and maybe Manhunter to fight bad guys in another planet while Bats, Flash, WW fight bad guys on earth. I mean with supes in the same ring the fight is pretty much done. Like watching Andre the Giant fight Midgets. Does he really need to tag out for help?

Again, my DC knowledge is limited to a few Batman graphic novels and the Death of Superman omnibus, but for the movie to work you need to look at it from a revenue and more importantly for superhero movies, merchandising standpoint.
So that being said, just in release of the MoS movie they are now selling tons of JLA toy sets with Supes/Bat/WW/GL/Flash/Cyborg. Fuck Aquaman.

Yeah but the movie still needs to be good (Fantastic 4) or it will just be a kiddie PG waste of time

I haven’t seen that one yet, but if this is her (MMA fighter Gina Carano), then based on her work in Haywire, she’d be better as Huntress or, maybe, Batgirl.
EDIT: Holy crap, did you know something I didn’t? She’s actually dating Henry Cavill!
Um, I guess that puts a new wrinkle in things and opens up some potential.

Yep. Exactly what I’m saying. All through Man of Steel, I was thinking that they’re showing just how super he really is. He doesn’t need to be part of a team.
