Dark Knight Sequel Confirmed

Not that it’s a big surprise, I’m just glad to see it confirmed. Really interested to see which way Nolan takes this one. The first two will be hard to top, or stay in line with.

theres talks about nolan doing a superman reboot

finally, someone who doesnt suck batman’s dick 24/7. superman needs lovin too

He’s done such a great job, why replace him?

Isn’t “The Green Hornet” being made too? With Seth Rogen?

Nolan would be a helper for superman. As fars as batman I’m hoping Black Mask or the Riddler they need to show the new bat cave and batmans detective skills. Ventriloquist could be freaky.

Yup, Green Hornet is pretty much in post production now. Should be…interesting.

So, I’m thinking the Riddler comes into play in the next film but he is not the focus. Chances are decent that The Riddler is that guy who tried to blackmail Wayne Enterprises. Although, I think it’d be a pretty neat plot device to have numerous people who could be The Riddler, and the film itself follows trying to figure the whole thing out. Otherwise. Joker is still ‘at large’, in the sense that, being captured has never really meant anything to him, so you can probably expect a cameo appearance, though not a large role on account of Heath Ledger’s death. I suppose it is possible Harley Quinn could be involved somehow.

Other than that, I’m not sure what direction they might want to take the next installment. Safe bet it takes place a decent amount of time after The Dark Knight. Possibly up to a full year. Batman still has a negative reputation across Gotham after taking the blame for Harvey/Two-Face’s actions, maybe Gotham finds that they’re doing better overall with Batman out of the picture. But Wayne himself finds that he simply cannot ‘drop’ the persona, and the film deals with the implications of that(which could help with a Riddler storyline, if that is presented as ‘the ultimate mystery’ for the world’s greatest detective to try and solve).

I think it’d be okay to introduce Robin, he’s kind of a ridiculous character in the majority of the Batman canon, but you have to figure in the Nolan-verse he’d probably work pretty well.

I couldn’t really care less about most of the other superhero movies coming out. Green Lantern could be pretty interesting. But, I don’t see how they could possibly make a Superman movie ‘work’ in today’s movie climate.

That would be the shittiest movie ever thank God you aren’t Nolan. Nolan has stated on numerous occasions “his” batman has no place for a Robin.

Is it just me, or does the trailer for Iron Man 2 look pretty special?

No one should ever introduce Robin into the Batman UNiverse. It was a crap marketing decision in order to attract more readers from the younger demographic and totally contradicted the rational behind the origin of the Batman character in the first place.

There’s also the Deadpool spinoff on the slate with Ryan Reynolds, personally very interested to see that one. Thor is due for summer 2011 I believe. I love these superhero movies. Always been a big Marvel/DC fan.

What Nolan did for Batman… awesome.

It would work well if they quit trying to literally make him Jesus. If they grounded the character in reality (much like they did on Smallville only minus the “Dawson’s Creek Angst”), the character of Clark is pretty damn interesting.

In fact, I felt a long time ago they should have just ended that series and turned everything up a notch as far as story and action and bring Smallville to the movies.

In the series, Clark was actually afraid of heights at the start. He also needs all of the prodding in the world to actually leave the farm and hit the real world because he really loves pretending to be human.

If they really got inside his head and toned down that damn suit, he would fit in with Batman just like on that animated movie they just released with both of them.

Superman and Logic doesn’t mix. The man turned back time by flying around the world.

And for the love of God, give him a decent villain in the reboot! I’m tired of mother fucking Lex Luthor. Bring in Metallo, Darkseid, Braniac, Mongul.

The producers can just watch the Superman animated series or the Justice League Unlimited series for inspiration.

  1. Superman sucks dick guys. Let’s be honest. In fact, anything DC (sans Watchmen + Batman) sucks dick. A “good” Superman never has and never will be made.

  2. I had heard rumors about Johnny Depp playing The Riddler in the next one. Probably just heresay, but it could be interesting.

  3. Bane or Killer Kroc FTW. I doubt Nolan would ever take up KK because it’s not so “realistic.” Like someone mentioned above, Harley Quinn would be a very interesting fit as well.

  4. Is the Avengers movie out yet?

Killer Croc is actually MORE realistic than most with the single thing being how extrreme they make him look on most cartoons.

Epidermolytic hyperkeratosis is a real skin disease which in extreme cases causes the skin to look like scales. That is what Killer Croc has. He filed his own teeth to points on his own and built himself up to huge proportions.

If they forget trying to make him just like a crocodile, it could easily be grounded in reality.

Are they remaking that again? Wasn’t there an Avengers movie with Ralph Fiennes?

Different Avengers, babe.

The biggest porblem in the Superman franchise has been lame villains. Darkside, Braniac, Doomsday, shit Toyman is more interesting than Lex Luthor.

I absolutely loved the Dark Knight but I think anymore movies are gonna be fucked. FFS we lost the Joker and Two Face in the last movie. Those 2 right there are/were some of the best villains in the Batman series. I think the Riddler would be good but the similarities between him and the Joker are too close to have him in a movie right after the last one. The same could be said for Quinn. So in the long run I think the 4th movie onwards have quite a few choices but the 3rd has limited choices just so it can be different from the 2nd. At least this is just my opinion. Nolan is phenomenal so no matter what he has planned I’m sure he can pull it off well.

Oh I’m surprised nobody said Cat Woman. Granted Michelle Pfeifer was an awesome Cat Woman but I think most people are still bummed about the bad taste Berry left after that ghastly performance. Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze could be interesting choices provided they aren’t done all supernaturally and cartoony.

I’m thinking Scarecrow would be a great choice since he has had only minor roles in the other movies. My favorite episode of the older Batman cartoon was the one in which the scarecrow puts Batman in a coma. He lives in this dreamworld where he is no longer Batman but can’t shake the feeling that something is wrong. The ending for that episode is awesome but of course I loved the whole series so…

My bad. Didn’t realize there were two different ones.
