Damnnnnnnnnnnnnn, did everyone want to be Luke Cage??? I remember the All Spice Guy even did a Tape of himself playing Cage to try for the part.
John Singleton wanted Tyrese Gibson to play Luke Cage. At one point The Rock was asked to play Captain Marvel but he said that he’d prefer to play Black Adam.
Hahahahah, Man Singleton still owes me money from “Baby Boy”. He must have been High when he made that statement. I can’t see Tyrese playing a tough guy.
Pretty sure the Tyrese rumors came after Four Brothers.

Not anymore. Tyrese has fallen into “funny guy on fast and furious” status. I think Singleton was thinking more along the lines of setting it in a Boyz n the Hood type setting…which is really who Cage is.
Power Man and Iron Fist were inspired respectively by blaxploitation and martial arts movies (not mutually exclusive). The blaxploitation element attracted Singleton.

Not sure if I want or don’t want it made as a 70’s flick like they did with the last X-Man movie

It’s more about the spirit than the setting. Tarantino could nail it.

I really liked the film. I don’t want to harp on the lack of story line because it’s already been said and We’ve been lacking an action packed supes movie that this one just needed to be made the way it was.

Shit yeah I forgot about her. I immediately googled her when I got home.
I guess I should add that I did like zod, but I thought that shannon left some on the table so to speak. Like I saw that movie he was in about the tornado that he was prepping for(obv forget the name) and I honestly believe he’s a much better actor than what he gave for zod.
The better get a good Lex Luthor.

It’s called “Take Shelter” that one, I love that film. Directed by Jeff Nichols (who directed “Mud” with Matthew McConaughey), he had some work with Shannon in the past when he made his debut film called Shotgun Stories in 2008, which is also incredibly good. Shannon can get his head together in the right atmosphere and make something magnificent, I guess this just wasn’t quite it.

It did seem like Superman in the new movie either was hurt at least annoyed by mere bullets. I mean it looked like he was ducking and turning away…but sort of like we do if someone sprays us with a hose.
Also, no Kryptonite. Legend has it that it was introduced in the radio serials to give the voice actor a vacation.

I think the way the story goes makes Pa Kent look like a fool.

We all know that Clark will be Superman so him fretting about not using his pwers and standing there and letting himself be killed by the tornado and CLark fucking letting him get killed all looks really stupid when he ends up becoming Superman and using his powers all the time.
It just seemed like a cheap way to create pathos.

Wow Nards you are rough. It wasn’t about Clark never using his powers. It was More about him not losing his identity until he could handle how the human race would react. He would rather die than have his son be held up and examined as some freak not as a Super Alien but as Clark Kent Super Freak.

Agreed. I saw it the same. They had no idea he was “SUPERMAN”. They just knew he was their son…who was from another planet…so if people found out, they would take him and dissect him.

I could see him dying to protect that secret.

Also, I thought it kind of helped to kind of fix one of the issues with Superman; he’s such a god-like power, it’s hard to see how he doesn’t just kill every bad guy he sees with ease. Like how does this dude have such a strong moral compass, the ‘boy scout’ personality?

Then the seen with Pa dying, you see Clark stepping to go help him, and all Pa has to do is extend his hand and say ‘no’, and Clark listens. He respects his father THAT much. For me, that was significant. Really shows that Superman is Superman not because of his powers and abilities, but because of his fortunate upbringing by the Kents.

It was also a quick way to show all of that in one scene in an ACTION MOVIE.

Thinking back, you have to credit the editor with trying to keep a certain pace in that movie.

This really needed to be two films…but then everyone would have cried about how boring it was. They had a choice to make it an all out action film or not…and they chose action. I think it will pay off in the long run because they can have tons of flashbacks ad clear up story issues…almost like Lost.

Something amused me when I was busy thinking, such a dangerous activity for me.

These actors/actresses are always commended on the bodies they achieve through short training periods from the worlds best trainers. 300, Marvel Comic heroes such as Thor and Iron Man and now Superman with Batman before him.

I fail to see these amazing transformations as anything but normal results from the training and diet they did. Yes they look good and could do better but I’ve seen plenty of non-famous people with just as good, if not better physiques.

Women drop to their knees at the sight of these bodies and yet they put their noses up at men with the same physiques. Weird eh? Must be a fame thing.

I loved the movie. Maybe cause I was in a good mood and didnt read all the critical aspects prior to seeing it.

Best supes movie ever IMO.

Did people really not like it?

I would also assume it has something to do with being famous and the size of their bank account.

No Joke Fame is like super beer goggles, make them cuts look extra deep. Also it’s a Super power in itself. Able to Drop Panties in a single bound.

Anybody else feel like Zod talked like he had a dip in the whole movie? I kept waiting for him to spit in his spit cup between lines…

Liked the film a lot. Even more the second time when I took my boy. I enjoyed the series of flashbacks and memories vs the standard linear story telling. Refreshing take
