If you start a fire, I’m willing to throw oil in it if it gets on my nerves, my rule is just to never start a fire ![]()
We need to all leave this log and just stop feeding it.
Remember the “help! My fiance is too fat!” guy?
Idk why this reminds me of that.
@supercardrives I’m sorry. I hope you someday reread your own log, top to bottom, and realize what happened.
Teaser: someone called your choice “goofy” and you responded by calling him an “asshole”. Escalation?
Then… all this. Best luck!
Why do you always start a cycle of complaining, say you’ll prove everyone wrong, and then complain once more.
I’m done complaining and logging now, its clear most people here are just haters and time will deal with them. Sure I am weak now but that doesn’t mean I will just quit.
Fair enough. We have different philosophies. The thing is though, you didn’t just direct your counter attack at the initiating poster though. You made a blanket statement about muscular posters and the culture on this site in general. It was a more generalized ad hominem. From a certain point of view, you instigated that fire.
This was after many interactions and in the fit of the moment… but like a decent human I will apologise for generalizing; I do realize that generalizations are rude.
I definitely picked up on this, wasn’t going to say anything because I’m basically done. But yes, he’s gone there quite a few times towards me, and others. I’d only be offended if this was coming from someone I respected.
YEP. Everything I’ve done in weightlifting is a fucking hobby, nothing more. And nearly every post I’ve made on this site has been about helping others to do the sorts of things I’ve been able to enjoy in the gym and in competitive settings. I wouldn’t be here for any other reason. I own a metal fabrication company, I have a 7 year old son, and a lot of other things going on outside of posting on a weightlifting forum. I choose to devote a portion of my free time to this site because it’s one of the mainstays in my now 20 year period of lifting, and I want to be able to give back what I’ve taken from here.
my dad is also a physics PhD. You don’t meet a lot of them. Congrats on that.
then you should definitely look in the mirror.
I really, really hope you’re not actually questioning the validity of this statement. Really hope you aren’t going there.
more holier than thou excuses. of course.
Why do you keep coming back to this log then? Why did you ever come to this log in the first place…?
Sure I have less muscle than you, I do have a lot more decency though.
I believe him, its impressive to hold a degree like that.
I literally wanted to have nothing to do with you (or any negative nancies), like I said I have no idea why you even entered this log in the first place or why you keep coming back lol. The reality is, you had nothing constructive to comment so you followed with “you’re an idiot,” its not a more “holier than thou excuse” you started this by commenting something kind of useless and are trying to be the good guy now. What kind of reverse psychology are you trying here lol? If you want to actually help go help others. Like I said, all the haters are going down in the long run, I will be back here for sure with my 225 bench some day.
You’ve said you are “basically done” like 5 times already but still keep coming back to this log (which in turn makes me come back) and commenting, so are you basically done finally so we could make this log inactive for the near future or you want to keep going?
There isnt really anyone hating on you to be honest - yet you keep referencing all the haters you are going to prove wrong. Why not accept good advice put your head down and work hard. There is no true secret to it outside of having a sound plan and putting lots hard work in over the long-term.
Like I guess my point is if you start threads asking for advice after getting no results for 7 years maybe you shouldnt turn your nose up at the advice of experienced people and/or flip out if people give you critiques to improve and call those critiques hating on you.
Constructive criticism may not always feel good. If you invite it, the harsh truth is that you have to have the humility to accept that you may (are in this instance) doing things wrong. This would be opposed to stating you have more decency that others in this thread since you are a great human, which is an attempt to degrade those who are actually trying to help you through your neuroticism and stubbornness. Edit: Sorry for terming those as such - it is in no way meant to be hyper inflammatory - just calling it like I see it after reading the log.
Re advice - I have taken advice from people who have been helpful actually rather than comment “you’re an idiot,” and secondly there are often many times people who give inverted advice so you can’t please everyone and “take advice” absolutely. There was someone who suggested caloric deficit for months, some suggesting recomp, some saying just bulk.
There was one common advice which I followed which is following a proper program written by someone experienced and that I am doing while taking the bulking route, and I am working hard, I am still going to the gym, I just stopped logging to avoid until I actually deliver some results.
I have actually appreciated constructive feedback WITHOUT any slurs, WITHOUT any aggressiveness WITHOUT any degradation. There are people in this thread I respect, ejones, tlgain, mnben, andrewge and a couple others who I don’t believe have ever really tried degrading me or calling me “an idiot” or something along those lines.
My fuse only really goes off when I see degradation, NOT constructive feedback, the haters and nancies know what I am talking about even if they don’t want to admit it.
And again, I am still working on this, haters will go down, and the haters who know exactly who they are, I don’t care if it takes years, it will be right here in this very exact log that those haters will go down.
What program are you currently running? Is getting your bench up your main goal?
What you are saying here is not necessarily true in all instances.
For example, with T3hPwnisher it went off the rails when you accused him of making baseless claims since he doesnt have time to prove you wrong (someone also followed it up and posted the research showing an anecdotal at best effect on hair loss). Prior to that you got unhappy that he pointed out that having cool whip for breakfast is expressing some pretty poor judgment (I know you have changed this). And come on calling you goofy is hardly an offence in this regard when you respond saying now your being silly.
When reading your log you are the one driving the suggestions - lets be honest:
-
They say follow a program - which you partially do as you dont follow the legs component as outlined to start.
-
You say you want to loose some fat - they tell you how and the deficit to target.
-
You say you want to experience strength gains - they tell you that is hard to do on a deficit and help explain that you should be eating at maintenance or a surplus.
-
You post an ideal body type you want (even if you are fine with much lesser) and state how you dont believe you would need to hit any form of strength standards to achieve it. People tell you that you are not viewing this right since you will have to be able to lift pretty respectable weights to achieve it and you get unhappy.
Regarding you are still going to the gym comment - how many people in the gym actually get any form of decent results and dont just give it up after a few years? Hard work and pushing yourself is very different than being in the gym. Dont tell me, ah I am going to RPE 10 I must be working hard - since that for most people is extremely subjective and I suspect most people would only be able to distinguish between the levels at RPE at a high-end intermediate to advanced level. The difference from what you are saying is you are potentially just exercising and not “training” (Potentially as I dont know and you would have to tell us).
It is completely fine to have posters you respect more than others and even ones you do not, however it just feels throughout your log that you get hypersensitive to a lot of things you should work to take in stride as there is very few times where the conversation degraded to a point that you are referring to where you yourself were not a large part of the escalation (even though you state I am fine lighting the oil once someone else has).
Realistically with your T results etc. you dont seem to have all that many excuses aside from very poor diet and even with that diet if you were working hard in those 7 years (which you quite obviously were not) you would have had some form of results and not be posting here.
Anyways I look forward to seeing a thread pop up in a few years where you come back and show us what you have built and sincerely hope it happens. But for the time being dont measure results in days/weeks/months and start thinking about the long term and how you are going to get there which may include monthly targets that are achievable. Good luck!
I will agree I started off rocky, I don’t feel I have denied that and I did mention I had a terrible diet for a long time (in fact I am surprised at my bloodwork given poor history) and I have been impatient which I also have agreed with, but I have followed advice (started with deficit, dropped 10 lb and now slight surplus).
My problem isn’t with any of that really, it’s only with degradation lol.
Lol then what can I tell you? I cant say I am going RPE 10 every single time, but I can only say I am doing it intensely unless you think I can easily bench 155 after seeing struggles here ![]()
I didn’t work completely hard and I didn’t really focus that heavily on gym, I started like this with over 47 inch waist and absolutely no muscle so I am still somewhat proud of where I am now while realizing I have ways to go.
You will definitely see it right here in this log, the haters know its coming.
Can’t say I see many haters in this log.
In fact, I can’t really remember the last time anyone on this site got as much help as you’ve gotten, and I’ve been lurking here since around 2007-ish.
I sincerely hope you come back with some awesome results, good luck!
I missed it, what were SC’s test levels after all?
Close to @BrickHead’s replacement dose cut off levels lol
What’s that number?
I’m lost in the convo. What’s going on here?
I’m dead
I’m in the low 6s total and he was trying to tell me I’m just genetically more gifted than him for BBing.
