Sumo Deadlift Form Check

I think i should keep my neck more neutral, but also think i could have maybe spent more time and got my hips a bit lower, wat do you think?

Not bad overall. Might see more from a high side angle e.g. back position, bar path etc.

As to your specific questions:

Can’t go wrong with a neutral neck position but slightly extended, flexed or even a bit of movement isn’t necessarily incorrect. As long as we aren’t excessively straining our necks anywhere or throwing off our balance it’s all good. Might be useful to lock in a neutral/slightly extended neck position if we are having troubles with upper back position. If what you’re currently doing with your neck position now feels natural and works well enough there’s no point changing it up.

Set up wise what we are actually after is “hips close” via a combination of finding optimal hip height with max tension + leverage and opening up the hips. What it ends up looking like on camera is highly individual, determined by your limb lengths and hip mobility/flexibility.

From what I see I don’t think trying to start with lower hips is appropriate. Try it if you like but forcing a suboptimal start position will go poorly. If your hips are shooting up at the start then you’ve started with your hips too low. Hips closer is something you can work on tho: Cuing knees out and the like, mobility/flexibility work, hip stability/ abduction strengthening etc.
