Summer/Winter diet training mix dilemma

Probably similar already asked on here before.
Im not unfit and have decent muscle but always striving to improve in both areas which would sound to be on opposing sides to each other.

Summer is normally a cutting time for me with extra training and workload and warmer weather (where I live).

I will definitely achieve the weight loss bit no problem even just being moderately active and balanced with diet (time allowing)

What hits me then is after the summer the cold weather and less activeness causes my body to go into an almost catabolic state because you’re more forced back indoors and the body is having to work harder to keep warm. And where I live we definitely aren’t blessed with warm winters.

I won’t deny motivation can be an issue in the winter for me but I want to leave myself in the best possible situation going into those dark and cold months as i think i can lay the foundations in summertime

It’s a build muscle lose fat scenario but I can never get the balance right basically

Not sure what you are asking here? Are you saying you want to build muscle and lose fat at the same time or are you looking for a winter program ?

And what exactly happens in the winter?

You lose muscle and get fat?

Both to be honest. I can lose fat and build muscle in summer no problem. Training or dieting isn’t the problem

Without being scientific, in winter if I don’t have that layer of fat (so not skin and bone/ripped) to keep me warm in the cold weather my body will cut down muscle as it struggles to stay warm compared to what it was used to in the summer months.

That then means extra calories both good and bad leading to weight gain which is the position I’m currently coming out of going into the summer

Pretty much

Losing or gaining muscle or fat is simply a product of your diet, training and recovery. If you are that cold in winter that you think you are shivering away your muscle then put another log on the fire or another jumper on.

You need to put on as much muscle as possible in the summer. When you’re active and training more, take advantage! Feed the machine and grow.

Then, in the winter when you’re less active, it’s time to eat less because you’re moving and training less.

Anyway, what’s up with your training? What do you do(weights, cardio)? Where do you do it(home or gym)?

What’s your training plan for winter? Maybe it needs some tweeks.

Try the Hibernation diet.
