Suggestions to Kill Soreness

aww…wanna hug it out?

pain is weakness leaving the body

x3 on the foam rolling. It may hurt but it does wonders. If you have the money find a good masus (massage person, I’m not the best with spelling).

That’s a shitty boat to be in

It’s also a smelly boat… :frowning:

Oh, but anyway -

X2 on the Surge (take 3 servings on leg day)
X4 on the foam rolling …or even better get a quad baller http://www.tptherapy.com/

These will alleviate/prevent it… if this fails, then consider what gainera2582 said:

I felt like chopping off my legs this morning.
It really feels like my quads are trying to birth aliens! Any advice on how to avoid this next time or quick cures? Thanks guys, much appreciated.[/quote]

u kidding? that’s the best feeling, proof positive that you had good workout.
suck it up, the soreness will be gone in a few days.

Fishoil,
Ride that Bike,
BCAA’s

Don’t take aleve, it can inhibit muscle growth. Also, soreness is good. Listen to your body. If you can’t do something, don’t power through, you will hurt yourself.

Use proper preventative measures (fish oil BCAA’s), listen to your body. You can push through pain, but know when it isn’t normal and back off.

Finally, sleep. I find dead lift days where I can get a nap in after(I work out in the morning) I am generally less sore overall then days I do not. Also, always get at least 7.5 hours of solid sleep.

I’ve been training legs twice a week for the past 6 months and I still get DOMS. I just take it as a sign of not plateauing.

My Rx for dealing with it is the same as many others have said:

BCAA’s
Fish oil
Foam Rolling
Bodyweight workouts
More fish oil
More Foam rolling
SLEEP

I’ve cut DOMS down from 4 days to 2.

Epsom salt baths.

Have you ever heard of the theory that the more beans you eat, the less you fart? It’s the same with lifting. Once you get used to it, soreness will become almost nonexistent with your workouts. I have learned that whatever you do in the gym, if it’s something that your body is not accustomed to, you’ll almost always get sore. Heck there are times when I get sore even without the use of the repeated effort method…

…And by the way… I wasn’t kidding about the bean theory. It’s true. I learned somewhere in Discovery channel of Food network. Can’t quite remember…
