Hey guys, I have the 531 ebook on powerlifting and have ran some accessories suggested, but I am about to complete cycle 1 and thought about running something ppl have had good success with. I am not a competitor, but I like to train to maximize my strength along with keeping the aesthetics in check.
I have ran Starting Strength and Madcow 5x5 previously. I am just now getting used to feeling this 531 out and would like some advice… especially on the accessories.

What accessories have you been doing for the first cycle? Wendler advises doing the accessory work for 8 weeks (2 cycles) before changing them. Keep the stuff you like and switch out the others for new stuff. Accessory work in 5/3/1 is a journey to find out what works for you. This isn’t rocket science, just do the movements you like.
I personally like either Simple Strength template or the periodization bible template for strength gains. If you are trying to maximize strength 'while keeping asthetics in check" I assume you mean not get fat in the process. The not get fat part is controlled by your kitchen not the accessory template. Honestly I would just pick a accessory template and stick with it for long enough to see if it’s helping. Try one for 3-4 months then switch.

I understand the diet process and how that works coupled with training. I just didnâ??t want to give the impression that my training is based around maximal strength gains alone.
I guess the fact that I have been doing simple programs with very lil accessory work for the last 2 years makes me question what exercises I add to the program.

Are you concerned about the exact exercises or which accessory template to use?
