I know sugar is the enemy when trying to achieve the perfect physique, but you are going to intake some of it in your diet. My question is how much is ok before you start getting adverse affects. I’m not wanting to eat candy bars and all that, but I love drinking milk and I know it has a decent amount of sugar in it that will affect insulin levels, so if I’m intaking about 3,000 cals a day how much sugar would be OK?
Double: I don’t know if there is an “ideal” amount, but there are sort of “ideal” guidlines(which, by the way, are similar with salt):
- Try to avoid as much “added” sugar (and salt) as possible. (P.S. DEBATE: Occasinal added salt to food may in fact be beneficial).
- Avoid overly processed and “sugary” confections, candies, cakes etc. (which, by the way, usually have HEAVY doses of TRANS fatty-acids. See the “Oiling of America” post).
3)“LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!” For example…high glycemic, surgary, processed carbs (cakes, pies, doughnuts etc.) cause a LOT of water retention, bloating and gas in me after weeks on a “clean” diet. So I try to avoid them. And if I “indulge”, I do it in small amounts.
Do just these two and you should be okay!
