So once and for all, what is the deal with sugar alcohol and how does it react in the body? Also, I saw these Doritos in the store that were 6 grams of carbs per bag but of course were made out of soy protein. Is there a reason why all these little snackish type foods that they try to make better can’t be made with a better protein source? Not that I truly care or need them anyway but was just curious.
If it was easy to make stuff like that with good protein, Biotest would have been selling Protein-tos™ long ago. Look how hard it is to make good protein bars.
Apparently the grain based products work better for baking, hence wheat, corn and soy. I tried baking breads many years ago, and I learned almost all recipes start with bleached white flour, then add in the extra grains, like rye.
Are you fucking serious with this!

yeah, making food out of ‘real substances’ cuts into the profit margin. chemicals and soy crap costs less to make, therefore, mo money for humpty dumpy, free-to-lays and hose-tess.

In the thread on my mom and her experience with cancer I went into the sugar alcohol deal. They were testing her blood sugar throughout the day and once after comsuming nothing but 1 single little sugar free (sugar alcohol) mint her blood sugar shot up something like 30+ points.
Hope this helps.

Yes Tmabes, I’m fucking serious! They really are making this shit and trying to sell it to the public as healthy foods. Is that what you are talking about? Fuck, I don’t know, maybe add a little more to your thread next time.
Anyways, thanks for all the replies. It was something that caught my eye as I passed through the grocery store today.
Very interesting on the sugar alcohol Phil, any more replies out there?
And sugar alcohols DO have calories.
