And I’m not taking any supplements because they’ll cause liver failure” (a guy, who has been taking 35 mg-s of dianabol while getting drunk every three nights and taking 50 mg/day isotretinoin post cycle to cure his acne) őő, in fact, all of the aforementioned quotes from the same guy ^^

What kind of people you hang out with?[/quote]

apparently Jesus if he can turn water into muscle.

Dog, I’m going to get serious and I promise I’m going to start tommorow!

LOL WUT

I’m pretty sure this is true.

Did I studder? Think of people who are naturally really lean. As I gain lean muscle mass I tend to lose fat mass. The more lean muscle mass you have/build raises your metabolic rate. Of course you knew that cause you “can’t” burn fat while you build muscles.

If I had a dollar…

“Yeeeah, I’ve got to get back into it…”

(talking about making a so-called “return” to the gym whilst grabbing their beer belly)

Okay maybe I should’ve phrased it better

It’s definetly true that you CAN do both in certain circumstances (Relative beginner, transitioning from horrible diet to good diet, all parameters in your training program are dialed). BUT its a really “stupid” quote.

Think about it, the same guys who tell you this are the same guys worried about their abs and stay a buck 50 for years and haven’t progressed at all. It is stupid to attempt to pursue both, because you have to dial in so many parameters. Furthermore, it just does not work for the trained individual. If that were the case, what is the point of varying your diet for gaining and cutting? We could just run this perfect diet and training program for the rest of our lives until we’re 0% BF at 300lbs.

However, if you do have an idea of how I can do this, I would like to know. I’m 5’6 190lbs 8-10% BF. I’m cutting in about 4 weeks and eat a low carb 60/40 protein/fat split at about 5000-6000 cals. Thanks in advance.

Emphasizing the negative part of the stroke is an enormous fat burner as the micor-trauma causes large metabolic demands. It isn’t a stupid statement. You really can do both at the same time.

Yes it is stupid, the metabolic increases you see from increased lean body mass and protein turnover are minimal. Skeletal muscle tissue adds only 20-30% to your RMR, most of it can be attributed to your organs working (heart, lungs, etc.)

This whole gain lean body mass to raise your basal metabolic rate is blown out of proportion. One estimate is with an increase of 4.5lb of muscle you only get a 50kcal/day increase in RMR.

Whoops my bad, I just posted a serious statement in an unserious thread, temporarily hijacking it.

“You won’t get big biceps if you don’t hold the peak contraction for at least a second”

/hijack

What crack pot trainers say to people trying to lose weight.

“You didn’t lose weight this week because you added muscle.”

This is usualy said to someone that is about 60 lbs overweight.

been successfully doing it for the past year

tonight at the gym i had a fucking kid slam plates on the side rack of the barbell shoulder press station while i was in mid rep so i sat the bar down on my lap and told him to go put it somewhere else cuz it shakes the whole thing and he goes

“What do you mean?”

soi got all angry and said “if you slam heavy plates on the rack im using, IT SHAKES IT AND FUCKS ME UP”

immediately

“oohh ohhh my bad dude” then he left the gym with all his ass clown friends.

for fucks sake its common sense

Back to comments though:

“if you work out for over an hour, youre overtraining”

“i just dont like feeling sore” (i love the feeling of soreness… soreness = success!)

“i dont wanna work out too hard man i dont wanna get muscle bound”

“Steroids permanently shrink your balls” (i dont care about roids but whyy are you talking to me about balls?)

i overall just hate it when someone comes up and decides to have a full fledged conversation with you while putting their arm/hand/foot/other appendage on the bench youre currently at.

cell phones in the gym

barbell with 10 lb plates on each end… at the squat rack (today)

hordes of kids surrounding all the benches using a fucking ez bar to do close grip benches posing in front of the fucking mirror in front of the dumbbell rack

old nasty guys naked in the locker room cleaning whatever that is they have down under

“i dont want to get bigger i just want to stay in shape” - coming from apple shaped humanoids

“test boosters like tribulus will give you man boobs”

“you can eat anything after you workout cuz the muscle sucks it all up”

“25g of protein is all your stomach can digest in an hour”

and i dunno i guess im just an asshole or something but theres been a plethora of like… 6 women whove been coming for the past 6 months just like for hours on the elliptical machines and they are still fucking fat and nasty ughhh

“Muscle on a budget.”

Creatine makes you really angry

“v tapers are disgusting” - really fat woman who i really don’t like
