“Athletes “XY and Z” succeeded in spite of their workouts, not because of”
If they didn’t fucking workout, would they have been successful?

Yeah I hear that all the time, “I don’t want to lift weights,I don’t want to get big”. Like lifting with some intensity is going to add on 20 lbs of mass in a month.
[/quote]
HAHA, so true! I hear this probably every second time I’m in the gym.
What aggrevates me even more is when girls act like doin a bit of fitness is gonna turn them into a man… Here in Europe fitness (at least hittin the gym) for women is not as popular as it is in the states (well, i lived in FL so I can only go by that) . But all the girls that I know are always sayin how they dont wanna go to the gym cuz they dont wanna get bulky or start getting big arms and shoulders etc.
HAHA, whateva… ive given up tryin to convince people to do a bit of exercise… I miss the hard body girls in South FL… Its so hard findin someone here who shares my interests in workin out… anyway, sorry, my post is turning into an eharmony profile…
130 pound guy:
“i need to build up my upper chest”
me:
“you need to build up everything. you got a lot of work to do, eat something son”
“I dont want to use creatine, I heard it can make you too aggressive”
…what are they teaching kids today in nutrition classes? jeezus…

Nothing good and everything bad.
“don’t do that machine it gives you titties”
“this exercise gets your veins to show”
guy: my muscles are starting to “tone”
me:![]()
for some reason “tone” sounds like a funny/noob word now.
“If I start lifting will it give me visible results within two weeks?” <–a 110 pound guy with 8inch arms in june, two weeks before the summer holiday…
“Aren’t you doing that wrong”
me- ummm no, actually I’m not.
“are you sure, you should really try this…”
me- oh, yeah, I would, but… umm… I don’t take advice from 170 pound punks in cut offs… sorry…
(Silmjim - hands down my favortie avatar)
“Squating gives you varicose veins.”
“My calves would look like yours if I chaved my legs.” (ugh - no they wouldn’t)
“I can’t do a pull up because of my shoulder. Wanna hit the bench?”
“I can’t decide if I want to bulk or cut.” (Really? be honest.)
“The ab/ad-ductor machine sculpt you entire leg.”
“Spinning strengthens your core.” (don’t get me started on this one.)
“Pilates is all you need to achieve the perfect figure.”
“I have done like 10,000 crunches this week and I can’t see my abs.”
“If you keep doing those hyper extensions you will destroy your lower back.”
What I kinda think is funny is that the people who get results at my gym are the guys and girls that never say a word on the floor.
spinning? like turning in circles? or the spin bike classes?
i dont have any from today, but there was this gem where a guy was talking on his bluetooth while doing deadlifts.
(for reference, I work at the gym on campus)
fat girl – is it possible to lose 20 pounds in a week and a half? I leave a week from wed for spring break?
me – sure, with liposuction or a serious round of diuretics.
fat girl – what are diuretics and how would I get them?
me – …never mind

What validity does this hold when German Volume Training is based off this concept and has proven to build a lot of muscle.

“Your biceps look small, they just peak out like Popeye’s”
“I really want to blast my lower biceps”
“what do you do for your inner chest?”
“I just work my arms and shoulders, running 8 miles works out my legs” (i could see a problem with being able to lift anything after 8 miles though)
“I don’t feel like its a workout if I can lift my arms after”
“I can get stronger, bigger, and leaner than you in half the time because my trainer is gonna make me a kickass program”
“I don’t care about getting bigger, I just want abs”
and my favorite one “Chicks don’t like big guys, they like toned guys”
OH and my second favorite one
135lb dude: How many crunches do you have to do to get abs?
Me: I dunno, I dont do crunches
135lb dude: How else do you get abs??
