Strong is Beautiful

I suggest “Strong is smoking hot.”

Strawberry cake with cream cheese icing…

Not for a title though! haha

Now, I really, really, REALLY AND TRULY want cake.

CDQ, I have always been able to take or leave carrot cake. The cream cheese frosting, on the other hand, I love.

Greeney, I am one-half German and indeed German Chocolate Cake has got to have American origins. It is simply much too sweet to be from the old country. Now, I love chocolate cake but I like it not-so-sweet dark chocolatey, if that makes sense. I think I love yellow cake with chocolate frosting because it reminds me of birthday parties of my childhood. My mom made me linzertorte, but the American moms would always make their kids that cake…

CBear, I am prepared for the imminent demise of this log.

Joe, I very much appreciate the sentiment expressed in that draft log title.

Betty, there is seriously such a thing as strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting??? Really? Because that sounds wicked.

Today’s training was another fun change of pace with my trainer-guy.

5/3/1 “Off the Reservation Day”
BW = 111 lbs.

Undulating ropes
3 x 45 sec. on/45 sec. off

I am getting better at making good wave patterns with the ropes, which are HEAVY.

TRX training

Pistol squats
Elevated pushups (hands in handles)
Lunges with back foot in handle
I’s & Y’s (shoulder exercise)
Triceps Overhead Presses
Inverted rows
Crunches with feet in straps (on back)
Pike crunches with feet to chest (in pushup position)
Knees side to side with feet in handles (in pushup position)

one set of each exercise, but at least 35 of each of 'em.

This training was outside the gym on its sunny patio, on a gorgeous non-humid but warm summer day. A training day that was more like play than training. All good.

I was watching a cake show today and they made a cake with beer!

Definitely need a vid on the rope thing. Sounds awesome! I would love to have a non-humid summer day, but I don’t think they have those here in PA.

mmmm…cake…yes please.

35?! hahaha! sounds like torture. good stuff!

beer-bread I have heard of, beer-cake not so much – intriguing

great day there kimba! sounds like torturously good fun. i thought of you on my bike ride today. you getting any rides in lately?

and my mom always made me the yellow/marbled caked with choc frosting. i loved mixing that separate choc batter and then dropping it in and swirling it…mmmmmm!

i’ll skip cake now and take wine instead. no beer cake, how about my RUM cake that i make at the holidays?
…oh sooo wicked good…

(i’m aware that torturously is prolly not even a word… but what the heck, it fits)

George and Greeney, I don’t have a ropes video of me but this guy on Youtube does it much, much better than I do:

I’m saving up my beer calories for Belgium next month. My waffle calories too.

Maschy, you can have cake on that Warrior Diet, right? Eat up.

Hi T! Yup, I am getting my rides in, although I haven’t been logging them here. I’m missing my normal Friday training tomorrow to go on a mini-vacation to ride up a small mountain. Its hubby’s birthday this weekend that this is his requested activity.

That outside training day sounds like major fun! I’m more of a pastry gal myself. Brioche, chocolatine, amandine, croissant, pie. basic food groups right there topped with cafe au lait. Now I miss Paris. lol.

Pie always greater than cake.

Did I mention it was chocolate? Apparently dark beers are really good to bake with…

Love that rope workout! All the ideas that I get from these logs. Terrific!

Ride up a small mountain? Each to his own. I would much prefer riding down, to fully utilize my gravitational advantage. Hope you guys have a great time!

Riding down ftw! My dad and I rode down a volcano in Hawaii. That was awesome.

I’ve ridden Volcano The Blast Coaster at King’s Dominion…not quite the same, though, I expect!

Enjoy your mountain biking - and hubby’s birthday cake (which you’ll have more than earned by then!)

(How about Sachertorte?)

I LOVE working out with the Power Ropes! And now that I am healed I can do it again… YAY!

Oh geez… the pressure that I might lock up this log is just too much… I need something awesome and prophetic to say! =D

Kimba - I am constantly super impressed by your hard work, encouragement of others, willingness to try new things, gracious acceptance of constructive criticism, and general all-around kick-ass-ed-ness! Oh, and your killer body. Keep it up!

x2!~

N., a good brioche or croissant is pure heaven to me. Baked goods are my true weakness. The last time I was in Switzerland, my one goal was to ingest as many baked goods as possible. But that was when I was busting out the scale at 10 lbs. heavier than I am now. Those were good days, though.

Joe, I have to say that pie is delicious but I probably would not choose it over a delicious pastry. I hope we can still be friends after this.

Snapper, I can feel the rope workout in my upper arms today. Its definitely good stuff, but deceptively simple.

Jack, I have no gravitational advantage. My body type is much better suited to climbing on a road bike than it is to powerlifting, so this one is mine!

Greeney, were you on Maui riding down Haleakala? My husband is so crazy that he rode UP that thing. While I was on the beach with a cocktail in my hand. Crazy I am not.

Cal, Sachertorte FTW! Now I want some. Preferably while sitting in a cafe in Vienna. Alas.

Molly and N., thanks so much for the kind words! My goal is to live up to the community standards of the compound. The bar is high.

I’ve been agonizing over the next log title. When, frankly, I need to be thinking about stuff for which they pay me…
