Strong is Beautiful

Yadda yadda yadda on the squat form talk. Let’s face it. The bottom line is that you’re hot.

Well, yeah - that too.

Exactly!

Wow, those pics in the extra short-shorts are super yummy, and that squat vid was the icing on the cake!

Way to go on the bench PR! A BW bench can’t be far now.

Those squats looked way better than the last vid you posted, so even though you’re still fighting some knee cave, there’s definitely been an improvement! And yeah, other than knee cave issues, your form is fantastic - your back stays nice and tight.

loved the outfit you were rockin for the squats vid! and yeah for the bench PR.

DCA, my natural tendency is to want to point out my toes. My ART girl is training me not to do that as I try to strengthen up my weak points. For now, I’m being a good patient (but I really do want to flare my toes out).

Snapper, I really appreciate the vote for hotness. Nice delt in your new avi.

Rachelle, thanks! That weight was only 100 lbs., so squat form is easier than a heavier weight. But it just doesn’t make much sense to go heavier when my focus is on fixing my imbalances. So, you are helping me be happy with what I can do now!

N., I love that outfit too. Didn’t intend to buy that top, but you know how it goes…

Sunday AM training - 5/3/1 - Wave 6, Week 2 - Sumo Deadlift Day

Sumo Deadlift
off risers:
85# 1 x 5
105# 2 x 3 <–couldn’t video the first set from a good angle, so re-did it to be sure back was good
125# 1 x 3 working

from floor:
140# 1 x 3 <–looked and felt good
157.5# 1 x 3 <–money set, I wanted more reps, but no.

with bands: 135# 1 x 3 <–back felt done, so I hung it up

I wanted more reps on the money set. But the first two reps were good ones, where I actually felt my feet pushing out against the sides of my chucks, that my knees were forcing out and that my butt and legs were completely the lift instead of my back, and my back looked pretty. So that was good. I have to stand up and completely reset before the third rep. The last rep was the ugliest, but still acceptable form.

Dips
12.5 lbs. on dip belt 3 x 10

Better than last week. A heavy, middle-aged lady was actually cheering me on on the first set. “you go girl!” which was actually quite nice, and I thanked her for the cheerleading. Her young-teen daughter then wanted to try the dip station, so I showed her what to do. Predictably, however, she couldn’t do it. But her mom and I told her to keep working it.

Decline sit-ups
10 lb. plate behind head 10/6/7

The bench was set up on its steepest angle. Yup, hard.

Then a bunch of rehab exercises.

An OK training, but my endurance definitely was down.

I always get my bench at it’s steepest when doing decline situps. Hence very little weight needed for a challenge. Question: do you wear all that beautiful lulu with your chucks? The image sounds kimda funky in a delish way

Absolutely! I wear chucks only to deadlift, and I always deadlift in my favorite reverse groove pants so that the bar slides along the pants instead of bare skin. Today’s outfit was black chucks, lulu groove pants and a black wife-beater. stylin’.

totally stylin!

Definitely stylin’! I still need to get me a pair of chucks, but I can’t get passed the fact that they’re…um…chucks. I know, i know. Its about utility not fashion.

Ugh! I hate when endurance feels low. This always signifies something hormonal or after a deload not being in my groove.

From the sounds of it, I think those Dls sound great. That fact that you were able to get the whole “spreading of floor” bit is HUGE imo. I still can’t wrap my head around that.

And I’m so happy to hear you’ve recruited a future powerful woman! HAH! And more importantly that her mom was into it. Very cool.

ps. dips + 12.5lbs. you’re an animal.

First of all…superb butt!

Secondly, just a quick comment on what DCA mentioned regarding the toes. It is very hard to push your knees out and have your knees, shins and feet align as you squat down without angling your toes. Not having a natural pointing out of the toes is likely contributing to knee cave. Tight hip flexors also make pushing out and squatting down between your legs tough.

What is your ART girl trying to fix?

Maschy, chucks are ugly no question. But they have helped me out on sumo deads with traction and the cue to push against the outsides of 'em. I do refuse to wear shorts with chucks, thinking that my yoga pants sort of cover them up.

Today’s training in the bedroom gym:

5/3/1 - Wave 6, Week 2 - Military Press Day

45.5# 1 x 3
52# 1 x 3
58.5# 1 x 8 ← money set, first time at this weight.

I was happy with this. My PR for 55 lbs. is 10 reps, and my PR for 60 lbs. is 6 reps so this fits in nicely right in the middle.

Rehab exercise: Kettlebell front squats with the 12 kg. bell. I mention this only because I was able to clean the bell to my shoulder with my left arm for the first time. Yay!

giterdone, first of all – thanks!

Secondly, I can’t answer the question. I need to question her again as to what she is going for with this specific directive. Thanks for pointing out the gap in my understanding.

Cool. I’m interested in her answer. Also, if you previously widened your stance while still trying to keep your feet pointing forward, that would explain why the cave issue was exacerbated. Pointing the toes so everything tracks properly may pay big dividends.

Bingo.

Which is why I wear a baggy tshirt and track pants.

well, this was more like cottage cheese Butt x100

I’m sure you look fine Grn.

I saw your vid and thought about the thread in SAMA pch started about delicate girls. Now, Kimba, you look delicate, all small and cute, but that only extends to your frame. You got some serious strength and definitely prove that “delicate” is a state of mind. You rock!

Thanks Grn! What a sweet thing for you to say. Its sure interesting, but the delicate frame is rather a disadvantage in powerlifting. So, I go and pick that as a hobby. Typical me.

I saw pch’s thread, and absolutely hate on “delicate-in-the-head” women. Whiners of either gender just piss me off.
