Strong(er) Phase 1

All right, who is interested, who is buying, and who could care less.

Ooooooh. Too bad my budget is done for the month. Though from the looks of it, I’m not advanced enough.

maybe later…but 25$ , 4 phases if im not wrong, 100$…im sure that Stronger workout would be good but 5/3/1 just match my lifestyle too much…

Also, i know Jim is coming soon with the 5/3/1 book and there is another one by Shelby
Starnes that im expecting next week(10$)…so this is where im going to spend my money!

I really don’t like that “strong(er)” slogan.

Or the “True” thing they had on the front page of Elite last week.

Always struck me as being amateurish and forced. Most of Elite’s marketing and posters have given me that feeling tho tbh.

“This workout is designed for the serious non-competitive athlete”

Could care less.

I dont think i will be picking up the workout, but i have been meaning to order a strong(er) shirt for awhile.

A book solely on 5/3/1? Huh. I wonder how much he would expand upon what is outlined in his 3 days a week training manual (which I own, love and pulled my 5/3/1 program out of).

That being said, I am VERY intrigued by Strong(er). I play soccer and the notion of something that is not focused on any one fitness quality (strength, hypertrophy, mobility, conditioning, etc.) is very appealing. I think it could be a great program for any athlete from what I have read about it so far.

Also, I like the fact that they have been pretty rigorous about testing it, which is not something I can say for what some people throw out into the market.

This won’t deviate me from sheiko.

I believe it will be a book with different template for accessory, (so many q/a about this) and also kind of the the best of his q/a about 5/3/1…something like that i guess…
At the end it 4 big lifts, and accessory do what you think is good, as long as you get the work done in the big lift!

The stronger workout seems based on different block, gpp, strenght, hypertrophy…Correct me if im wrong but this seems similar to linear periodization…
A workout like ws4sb and the westside barbell is based on Conjugate periodization to prevent losing what you gained in the previous phase…

No, that’s a good point re: accessory work under the 5/3/1. Actually, the one question I have had is whether most people do AMAP reps on the last set during deload weeks. I have not (for the most part… unless I suddenly feel like it).

Do you find that as long as you hit the reps (or especially exceed) on one of your 4 big lifts that the rest of the workout seems like icing on the cake? I do not mean that to be that you can slack off, but just you feel extra motivation because you achieve on the major piece of the day.

True sometimes i feel like the accessory is icing on the cake…this is why sometimes i go to failure on last sets of accessory stuff…But for a guy busy like me…that doesnt like complicated stuff, at least i know if i still make progress with the big 4. Im not a competitive powerlifter, not a bodybuilder, but i like get stronger and i cant do 30sets of bis, tri, calves, chest(otherwise i wont train at all)…so this is why i like the 5/3/1 approach. Before been on ws4sb for a while.
Now the STONGER workout top sentence is:
This workout is designed for the serious non- competitive athlete

That why im curious about it.

I would agree with this. No better feeling than getting double of whatever the goal of the day is.

I would be interested in what results would be seen in someone ONLY hitting the prescribed reps and no more. Any takers?

I know. $100 for essentially a year of programming seems like a lot. I know the boys over there know what they are doing, but from the read up on it … it seems like Thibs multi-phase program that he wrote last year (can’t remember the name).

Anyone know how many days per week the program requires? How many weight training days versus other workouts? Total workouts?

Good questions. I think they need to at least give a little more info. Maybe Dave would take a question on it.

The program has 3 phases within this phase each having a slightly different focus,

1.1 GPP General Physical Preparedness (8 weeks)
4 day split on a 3 day week

1.2 Muscle Building (6 weeks)
6 day split on a 3 day week

1.3 Recovery (2 weeks)
2-3 workouts per week with 1-2 days rest in between, 12 exercises 1 set 6 reps each
