Stretch Marks: Normal Or Not?

So…heres the deal…I’ve been training for a solid 1 month now. And today I noticed 3 stretch mark lines on the middle-right-ish of my back. I don’t have any stretch marks ANY where else on my body. Is this normal to happen after a solid month of training? If not…what the hell? (Reminder: I did use to be a good 10lbs overweight.) But its not on the other side of my back? >_>

I have a line of them on my right ticep, some on my lift bicep, all around shoulders, front, rear delt I mean everywhere, and on my thighs. Just make sure you aren’t getting too fat, and you’ll be alright. You’ll notice I said on my right tricep and my left bicep, and I have no visible muscle imbalence. You’ll be fine.

I have them everywhere, lower back, thighs, 1 on my stomach, HUGEEEEE ones on my hipbone, both biceps, few on triceps, even one or 2 near my elbow (inner part), left area where my pec and delt meet, and probably other places too. The only imbalance i think i have would be between my right and left pecs. I think theyre normal.

My .02.

EDIT: The few on my triceps are near my bicep. The REAL tricep ones go from covering my rear delt to half way down on my left arm, 1/3 of the way down on the right arm. And yea im proud of my arm stretch marks.

How old are you? I’ve got stretch marks on my back, but those are from puberty and growing taller. It sounds like those are what you’re describing. Are they running perpendicular to your spine?

The ones on my shoulders, lats, biceps, and calves are from training though. And I love 'em.

Yeah…Im currently 15 and 6’0 167lbs. I’m also curious to know…what is the stretch marks from?? (And…i dont know what perpendicular means…but they are horizontal…like on the lower part of my lats.

stretch marks are from all the subcutaneous tissue not growing as fast as the rest of you and tearing.

Perpendicular means that two lines intersect to form a 90 degree angle.

I also have some type of lines across my back. But mine are right in the middle of my back and perpendicular to and centered on my spine. Oh, they are short and red. Had them for a couple of months. Never really found out what they are yet.

do they ever go away once you have them?

I have stretch marks from training basically all over my upper body. Personally, I see stretch marks as a sign of progress, so I like them.

I got stretch marks on my stomach and biceps, but thats what you get for being overweight

Buy some vitamin E oil and it will reduce it somewhat.

Stretch marks are normal when lifting. It means your muscles are growing quick, and that’s not always bad.

I can’t wait till I get stretch marks… :frowning:

they do fade over time but once there they stay there like scars
vit E enriched oils and coca butter worked on my babys moms stomach and her legs when she turned into a dump truck.

in her defense she is still a truck but the marks faded alot.
and yes I have thenm also both from gaining alot of weight in a short amount of time and also from training but I dont worry about them.

That sounds consistent from stretching of the skin brought about by growing taller. No biggie.

No.

But supposedly, if you treat them with something like Retin-A or a topical vitamin C that stimulate collagen regrowth while they are still very fresh, they can be greatly improved. SkinCeuticals has excellent topical vitamin C products.

But once they are old, there’s not much to do about them. There are laser treatments that are still experimental and also very expensive.

So…these stretch marks are GOOD? They show that im gaining muscle quickly?

Yeah, basically. And that you are growing vertically.

Hi,

I used to have pretty bad stretch marks and red scars around my belly region ever since I gave birth to my three kids.I had tried Vitamin E oil and cocoa butter which a number of people had recommended but unfortunately it didn’t seem to work too well. My Doctor had even suggested that I go for a Tummy Tuck. I then recently read an article about a lady who supposedly got rid of her stretch marks using a particular cream. I tried it and it worked really well. It took a number of weeks but my stretch marks soon faded away. You can read the lady’s article at the link below.
