Im a college wrestler, not a bodybuilder, so im alot more concerned about being strong then being big. What are the best lifting techniques to get alot stronger with putting on mass?
Basically you want to train your nervous system along with increasing muscle size. Not terrible difficult. Things you might want to incoporate into your training (not all at once) are: accumulation/intensification phases (poliquin talks of them somewhere), for the most part keeping reps below 8, longer rest between sets, greater number of sets, 1-6 principal or wave loading type training, use primarily compound exercises, use a-1 a-2 antagonist training as poliquin does in his workout plans, use complusory accelration training that dave tate and louie simmons talk about. all i can think about right now.
lift heavy weight consistently. Try lots of different things variations of the basic lifts. get your diet in order, be patient. Getting REALLY strong takes time.
Train as mentioned above. Look at taking advantage of CNS adaptations. 1-6 training is an interesting article as is Training with Maximal Wights. Poloquin wrote both.
Just keep on ething in mind. You can train to get big, eat to stay small and you’ll stay small. You can train to stay small and eat to get big and you’ll get big.
Get your diet in order. Only eat what you expend in a day. You can’t gain weight without eating extra calories. Use the protocol in Massive Eating Part 1 to calculate your caloric needs. Peace.
