Street Fighter IV

other people ive played online so far dont seem to realise there are characters other than Ryu,Ken and Akuma

I prefer to play as Ken because I like his design and his moveset isn’t all fucking goofy; that is to say, his punches and kicks look like punches and kicks. I simply can’t bring myself to play as some of the other characters because I just don’t like how they move/look.

And really, if a lot of people play as shoto characters, then it shouldn’t be hard to develop a gameplan that works against most of them.
I have always hated Blonka and now I think Rufus is the bigest POS in any fighting game ever.

Rufus makes me vomit in my mouth a little. Everything about that character is so poor and out of place in a SF game.

From what I’ve read, he was a response to the Tekken 6 “Bob” character.

I turned everyone’s voice to Japanese after hearing that fucker talk.

I played Street Fighter II when I was younger. I kept on whooping my brother’s ass.

This thread might drive me to liquidate my lilliputian 401K and cop an X-Box and SFIV.

I was nasty as a bat out of hell with Guile in SFII.

I kind of wish it was a Western developer that made the game with only some Japanese fighting game experts brought on to give consultation regarding the actual fighting mechanics. I simply can’t stand how fucking wacky a lot of Japanese stuff is… and seriously, school girls and peace signs just aren’t fucking cool.

Say what you will but Sakura has the best upercut in the game.

I’ve been on the receiving end of it enough to be inclined to agree.

Akuma. the most versatile character in capcom universe. grabbing my copy this weekend and see you guys on PSN.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig difference between versatile and broken. There aren’t a whole lot of tournies that allow him as a playable.

Broken? How so? The only real difference between Ken and Akuma is his ability to throw fierballs in the air and really that is a small thing. But thats just what I see.

His priority, speed, power, and ability to control range. In a moderately skilled player’s hands, he is . . . well, broken.

His only real weakness is his lower HP value.

Still, Seth is Dollar Store cheap whereas Akuma is at least Wal-Mart priced.
Not to mention he has Super and Ultra combos that are very difficult to combo into.

Couple with his VERY low HP I really don’t see him as a problem. And most people don’t know how to play with him (or the other shoto characters) anyway. Most of the people that I’ve played against him with just throw fireballs and hurricane kicks, with the occasional shoryuken.

No teleports, feints (i.e. throwing an air fireball and doing a crossup to mix them up), or combos. Most of my wins have come from characters using Ryu, Ken, Akuma, or Gouken.

I agree, most ppl(99%) don’t take advantage of all of Akumas tricks. They pigeon hole them selves into using one or two moves

Now that the game has been out for a weak its funny to read what some ppl have written. I dont think I have ever heard ppl be so divided about a game b4. I cant believe the amount of crying thats going on.

“Boohoo…Seth is so cheap! Its just SF2 all over again! All ppl do is spam and turtle! The movies are to hard! What shitty FX”

Give me a F**KEN break! How hard is it to do a 1/4 circle or Back/Forward, Down/Up. I can all but promise most of the sniveling comes from the >21 who have never seen the inside of an Arcade. Its funny to me that ppl find this game so hard but they compare it to VF or Tekken.

I cant wait for Tekken 6, there are going to be a lot of broken hearts out there when all those Eddies/Christies find their heads getting stomped in by the Jins, Lees, Brains & Kazuyas of the world.

I had forgoten how much I loved Arcades. I like a good shooter but there isn’t any thing better that beating the crap out of someone one-on-one

Seth is fucking cheap. Unavoidable, instantaneous grabs and endless teleporting are not good game design. I still love the game, but he’s a shitty final boss.

Whatever though. It’s meant to be played against other people anyways.

yea, he is hella cheap, he pissed me off when I was trying to beat him with C Viper to unlock a character.

you just gotta know how to be cheap as well… Basically jump kick and hard kick him and repeat…

Here is a Chun Li video that beats Seth easily

Anyone wana play on PS3, add me: cseeto

I find it’s pretty random though. Sometimes you can get away with spamming a single attack over and over again, other times, he’ll either teleport>throw or counter>throw ad nauseum.

Just unlocked all the characters and Seth as a playable character is actually very smooth. His supers suck ass as far as damage is concerned but his movement is sweet.

For the guys playing on line whats is your win percentage? I’m hovering around 63% with about 130+ matches under my belt. Not too proud about it but it takes a while to get in my rhythm some days.

I don’t think Seth is any cheaper than Kintaro or Shao Kahn where in MK2, remember what those f**kers were like? Tele-Stomp/Tele-Stomp/Grab and Pound/tele-stomp and your dead. Then once you get past that Shoulder-rush/shoulder-rush/War-hammer/shoulder-rush/shoulder-rush.

And who could ever forget Killer Instinct and Gargos. There have been others too but Seth is just the flaver of the month. And really Seth is only hard after you beat him that first round, thats when he really gets cheap.

I’m at about 55% but I’ve got like some 330+ matches. Some times I’ll go on a run where I can’t bye a win

Someone linked me this match on youtube, looks like a pretty beast Akuma player(there’s 4 vids, just keep looking for set 2,3,4 in related vids)

Dunno how well some of you keep up with that type of thing so this might be old, because well it is like 2 months old =p

I think they guy playing as Ryu made him look better than he really is. I mean his is good but it took Ryu the first 5 rounds b4 he finaly started useing his Shoryuken then finaly swiches up what he was doing. That in turn makes Akuma think twice about jumping and throwing his Zankū Hadoken.

But to bad he then falls right back into what he was doing b4

It’s been ages since I’ve played any of those games. Those characters being cheap doesn’t make Seth any less cheap though. The last fighting game I played was SF2 Turbo HD Remix, and M.Bison was definitely not as hard as Seth.

My roommate and I have been playing on his XBL account. I think we’re only sitting around 49.6%, but we’ve had a few other people playing on it as well. Plus, I mean, I’m really not very good.
