Strange Arm Pain

Ive been having some pain in my left arm for the past month or so. I initially felt it around the lateral epicondyle, but that pain has since subsided. The pain then moved to the anconeus muscle and causes discomfort when flexing or pushing on something. I also feel some pain in the middle of the humerous (a bit closer to the shoulder than elbow). Have any of you ever had anything like this or know what the problem might be?

Ahhh, big words

The humerous is the upper arm bone.

your post is confusing, what exercises hurt, Bench presses, shoulder press, do dips hurt? Does it hurt with the elbow bent, or near lockout.

It could be a weak forearm extensor, do reverse barbell and reverse wrist curls. Search for a thread called safe biceps exercises. They mention an exercise with rubber bands for extensor pain.

I had a brain fart, was thinking glenohumeral

I really havent done any pressing or arm exercises since this began, but any tricep isolation would cause pain. All I have done in the past month is forearm extensor work because I thought that was the issue, but the pain has changed since then

To be more specific about the pain, its in the deltoid tuberosity of the humerous as well as the anconeus muscle and it hurts to “make a muscle”.

Could a possible cause of this pain be a lack of direct lateral deltoid, bicep, and forearm flexor work? I have not done any of that in over 4 months.

I doubt the pain is from lack of direct work.
Try massaging the delt where it hurts. Using a foam roller helps, lay sideways on the roller, rolling back and forth slowing, stop on the tender spots longer.

When you say The anconeus muscle and it hurts to “make a muscle” do your mean flexing your biceps and stretching the anconeus muscle.

or

Flexing your tris and it feels like the anconeus is being pinched in the elbow joint, and or your elbow is clicking. Wrist pronation and supination helped me with this

I’ve had both of these problems following shoulder surgery. The massage and foam rolling helped my shoulder after PT. The elbow took much longer to fix. It actually still bothers my 2 years later.

Whatever was causing the shoulder pain is resolved is now a non issue. However, my elbow pain persists. When I say it hurts to “make a muscle” I mean my arm is bent to a 90 degree angle and tensed.

I would try some high rep band pressdowns. Dave Tate, a powerlifter than appears in many articles here, has recommended them in the past.

thanks a lot.
