After mixing up a protein shake should it be drunk right away, or can a guy leave it in the fridge or freezer for a few hours or days (freezer) before drinking it?
Someone from Optimum Nutrition once told me it should be consumed within an hour.

It depends if it’s casein or whey. Casein will basically turn into thick undrinkable mass within 20 minutes. Whey stays watery indefinitly.
As far as spoilage it’s no different than any other food.
For the life of me though, I can’t think of a single unavoidable reason to pre-make a protein shake.
I actually pre-make a protein shake before I head to bed in the morning. It’s primarily whey, so it stays liquid, and I store it in the fridge. When I get up around 2p to drink it, then head back to bed for a couple of hours. That way, I am not working out on an empty stomach before work.

I make mine the night before. I take three of them to work with me where they stay in the fridge in my office until I am ready to drink them. Why make things complicated?
I would usually not hold onto them for DAYS. If you are taking that long, then you didn’t need to make them that far in advance in the first place.
It’s totally fine.
I do it all the time, preparation is key in a dialed in diet anyway.
Great. My main concern was issues with the protein quality going down or something. I’m just looking to make my homemade meal replacement drinks in bulk so I don’t have to clean the blender so often… if anyone has a cleaning tip there, let me know.

Uh, soap and water not working for you? I usually make up to 5 at a time. I rinse it with water in between each one and then wash it afterwards. Again, this isn’t exactly complicated. If you think washing the blender is a big task, wait until you start cooking more of your meals in advance.

cleaning tip: wash it right away and it takes about 30 seconds.
Has anyone tried making protein shakes with Metabolic Drive ahead of time? Since its a mix of casien and whey will it turn into a jellied mass or still be drinkable after say 12 hours in the fridge? To be specific I have the Low-Carb Metabolic Drive.
I have a job where sometimes I have to work a back to back shift without any prior warning and I sometimes have nothing to eat for the second shift. I figure I can just blend up a big batch of shakes and pour them out into indivdual cups so I always got something to digest at work.
Or would my best bet be just have some cups with presmeasured scoops dumped in sans the water and shake at work?

Metabolic Drive in my experience mixed just fine with a shaker cup so I’d go with just the powder and any other things you were adding to them and shake it up there.
Can you leave a shaken protein powder with milk out in room temperature for a couple of hours because sometimes i mix it before i go to class and then i lift then drink the protein shake. I commute by the way.
bump
I take my shakes to work/ school in seperate shaker bottles, dry. I don’t add water until I’m ready to drink each one.
i’m using the hamilton beach travel blender from walmart. i like blended ice in my shakes because it helps with satiety and i’m on the v-diet. 15 bucks, and i highly recommend it. i make them fresh every time, but this doo-dad is convenient for use at work.

assuming its not got any digestive enzymes added its fine to let it sit in the fridge for a while, if there are enzymes added then you might want to drink it within 20 mins!
I use gnc protein. (poor highschool student who pays for own supps). It like clumps together with the new formula so using a bag with a corner cut off or a funnel isn’t an option anymore. I make like 67 of them in my shaker bottle and fill water bottles with the shakes. Then drink the 7th one.
(the new gnc formula makes the powder blend into water much easier and needing much less water to make a shake…much better formula if you have a shaker bottle.)
I used to just bring the powder to school in a bag.
