Making Shakes the Night Before?

Is it ok if i was to make my protein drinks one day in advance??? For instance, i make a protein drink at night just before going to bed, put it in the fridge and drink it the following morning when i wake up. Is that a good thing to do? Or will that just mess up the quality of the drink? Please let me know what you lot think.

Is fine.

How hard is it to add water and shake?

I might pre-load a shaker bottle or two with Metabolic Drive, but I always wait until I’m ready to drink them before adding water.

Yes it’s fine. I like to pre mix some whey iso before I go to bed to have upon waking.

I’m not sure what you guys are doing to prevent this, but a lot of proteins will curdle over the course of a few hours and become rancid.

Maybe it’s ok as long as there is no sugar in it?

I wouldn’t do it bro-if I make a shake of 1 scoop Metabolic Drive and 1 Scoop Whey- if it is not drank within 12 or so hours-I have had them go rancid on me before

If its not ok, then what about premade or RTD protein drinks? They’re sold everywhere…

These are pasteurized and have preservatives added.

It’s not fine from what I understand. The protein will start to break down in the presence of water (hydrolysis reaction).

Remember that proteins are just long chains of amino acids held together by peptide bonds. These bonds are easily broken down by water.

What is so hard about putting the powder in the shaker but adding the water later, before you drink it?

sorry if I’m mistaken, but isnt this what will happen in your stomach anyways?

Taste buds.

Why complicate things?. Just throw a scoop some water or milk and shake. Drink and that’s it. It’s not going to take more then a couple of minutes to do this.

aren’t we just using the amino acids anyways?

just add the liquid when your ready to drink. if you are REALLY trying to cut down on time have cup of the milk/water next to it so you can open the shaker, pour, and drink.

Scratch what I said earlier. It would be ridiculous for someone to mix a shake for THE NEXT MORNING in advance. I thought we were talking about a shake to have in the night, 3-4 hours after falling asleep.

Anyway, do what Bushido says.

I asked the question because i tend to always use a blender. So i don’t want to disturb anyone in the really early hours of the morning if you know what i mean.

Ok. Well the solution is simple. Use a shaker instead. I know I know it takes about 45 seconds to shake :stuck_out_tongue:

Just messing with ya.

But well it wouldn’t be a bad idea if ‘in the early morning’ you shake your protein in a shaker. I don’t use a blender I just shake it in a cheap ass shaker. Shake for a minute and no chunks remain.

Yes its fine. Will the protein break down in the shake over time. I suppose, but are you really going to be upset with your cheap whey shake magically turning into amino acids? I mix up several shakes to last me through my 12 hour shifts in the ER (and yes, no time for solid food, and no time for mixing either).
