So I’m 41 and I’ve been on trt for two months. I am wanting to discontinue due to side effects as well as it interfering with another health problem of mine. I’m taking 75mg twice weekly testosterone cypionate.
If I stop abruptly how long would it take for my levels and take to come back to Pre trt. Do you I recommend a PCT to help. I don’t want to get gyno, I want my libido not to vanish either. Any feed would be appreciated.
Gynecomastia is not likely while coming off. Loss of libido or at least reduced libido is likely but temporary. With as little time as you’ve been on you could probably cold turkey it. I would give myself a little boost with a SERM or SERM/HCG combo if it were me. @highpull What do your clients do?
Thanks for the info. I could stop cold turkey but would it be best to take like clomid with hcg for a short time? Also how fast can gynecomastia develop while on trt?
I won’t recommend specific doses but I don’t have a problem giving you some tips to speak with your doc about. Clomid has more side effects than Nolvadex and they will both work so I would talk to your doc about Nolvadex for a 4-8 week period. You would want to start this after your exogenous test is cleared which medicinally is 5 half lives but for our intent you could prob start your PCT after 4 half lives or roughly 4 weeks if Test Cyp. During that time you can take HCG but will want to stop taking it when you start your Nolvadex. Again, please discuss appropriate dosages of each with your doc. I’m assuming you are still in contact with the Doc?
Gynecomastia cant start forming in as little as a few weeks. It will typically start with tenderness and then small lumps will form. This usually occurs during periods of hormonal swings.
That’s great information! I meet with my urologist to discuss stopping trt. I am taking testosterone cypionate. I’ll mention Nolvadex to him. Luckily I’ve only been taking the trt for 2 months so hopefully I bounce back to baseline.
I was worried because my friends said my chest looks a little different. I don’t see gynecomastia but your saying that trt shouldn’t cause gynecomastia to happen that quickly?
Did you have any issues as a teen? Typically it does not unless your protocol is super aggressive/high in dose or you are naturally prone to it. Either way, until you got a lot of tissue growth its semi reversible. I really wouldn’t stress over it unless you can definitively feel tender lumps. You wouldn’t question what you’re feeling either.
TRT doesn’t cause gyno, you have to have a particular gene in order to get gyno. Gyno is triggered by an imbalance of testosterone, estrogen, DHT and prolactin.
Guys tend to get gyno when coming off cycles as hormones are crashing.
You say TRT is causing problems with your current health problems, but people with higher testosterone recover more quickly from surgeries and hospitalizations and are expected to make it through emergency situations better then those with lower testosterone.
I believe your issues could be from an overly aggressive protocol.
I do not see many patients that stop TRT, certainly not at two months. I would not have him do anything. I think of all those I know who ran 6-12 week AAS cycles who simply stopped. No PCT back then. We were all fine.
I was on the cusp of with that myself. Back 20 years ago when I cycled for short periods we all used clomid as PCT because that’s all we knew. Thanks for chiming in and to @Repyourmax i think taking @highpull advice would be a good direction.
That’s is assuming you’re dead set on quitting. @systemlord makes a good point in that you may want to reconsider if TRT is truly the problem or is a protocol change a better avenue?
Awesome thanks for the info. Yeah I wanted to do a trial before committing. I know once you commit it’s a lifelong thing. With being on testosterone cypionate 150mg split twice weey for 2 months exactly how long would you expect for my baseline levels to return as well as libido? I just want to do anything to speed up returning to my natural state and if that requires a pct then I can run that by my doctor when i see him next week. Also I want to avoid gynecomastia. Definitely have been having harder nipples on testosterone haha.
