Sweet, sounds like fun.
This thread has inspired me to expand my training from the basement to the back yard.
Luckily I have a bunch of big rocks on our property that need to be moved anyway.
Also, just built a log home and have left over material.
Heat with a wood stove so I have lots of splitting and cutting to do anyway.
Heck, I need to get you guys over to my house and get some work done. I’ll supply the beer (or your choice of post workout drink) and won’t even charge you a gym membership.
I’m only about 8 months into this weight training game but I’m hooked.
In a year or two I’d love to try out a Highland Game or Strong Man comp.
Thanks for the advice

This thread has definitely made me laugh.
When you guys are training this way, is there a method to the madness.
When you say stone throws, is there a specific “form” you use or are you just chucking this stuff around anyway you can? Are you measuring distances?
I picture the stone coming off the shoulder, pushed mostly with one hand.
Same with the keg throws and stuff?
How about the log work. Are you just carrying heavy shit around? Tossing it end over end?
Clue me in please.
I live in the sticks and have a lot of material to work with and no neighbors.
My wife already thinks I’m nuts so I won’t be bothering anyone.
With the stone throws, i like to switch it up, sometimes i take the smaller rocks and throw them much like you described, kind of like shotputting them.
With the larger ones, i start with both hands under them, and kind of throw like you would a chest pass during basketball.
And i usually just choose a distance, and ive got to throw it till i get there.
With my stone carries, i find the largest rock i can get to my chest, and i have to carry it a certain distance, and the goal is to be able to get it that distance, while stopping a few times as possible, and then the next session i wanna make it that distance or farther while putting the stone down less.
