Realx, kid. The first few pics confused a lot of the guys (including me) who automatically assumed you were a “beach muscles” guy with a myspace-approved picture. IT doesn;t seem to be the case though…so keep doing what youre doing and add weight to your lifts. And keep eating. Good work.
Thanks man, adding weight is what im doing, im making progress ever week.
Question? Whats the thinking behind 20 rep squats for growth, instead of a 6 rep set very very near failure squat???[/quote]
Just give it a go and you’ll see why after a few weeks. It’s the hardest 1 minute and 30 seconds of my life every week.
Here’s what Charles Poliquin had to say:
8. Give “Super Squats” a Try
“The classic 20-rep squat routines are certainly worth a try. To do this program, one takes 3 deep breaths in between each rep. And, of course you’re only supposed to do one set. What’s really happening is that you’re doing 20 single-rep sets with 10 seconds between each rep. This 10-second pause, while taking the 3 deep breaths, allows you to recruit higher-threshold motor units than if you did the 20 reps in a slam-bam fashion. Hence the greater-than-normal motor unit recruitment. When performed with the right load, you’ll cough up a lung at the end of the set (which is a real badge of honor among hardcore trainers). If you’re underweight and have low-work capacity, I strongly encourage you to try 20-rep breathing squats. But, like any other routine, it will work only until you adapt to it.”
Needless to say, it made my quads grow (also consider I ate mad food) and helped the outer sweep of my quads along with my vastus medialis (the tear drop on your quads, inner of the legs). The first time I tried it right around new years it kicked my ass. I started with 185 for 20. I’m going for 220 for 20 this friday. This is below parallel and the last 5 reps are hell.
As far the subconscious thinking goes, I’ll PM you more about it in a few days. There a few good books about it and particularity one which applies to bodybuilding. Just understand you have the power to block and not accept negative toxic spewed from people’s mouths.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing progress in a couple months or the next year. Beast in the gym, Beast in the kitchen.

Ok man, i got legs on saturday, im on it… III let you know how it goes.
You gained 16 kg in under a year and stayed lean. That is well done! Keep working out hard!
thanks dude, keep workin hard and stay focused!!!
All i gotta say is your looking good. Very lean, but you got some mass. Just keep bulking! Dont stop bulking!
the problem with this website isent the constant flaming and endless insults its the fact that lately people join this site like its a fucking the hot or not website, post stupid pics of their bicep or abs and wonder why people around here get pissed.
if these idiots took 5 minutes to read something on this website rather than going straight to this rate my physique forum they would realize exactly what this website is about.
i agree with every comment on here. go back to myspace and keep stalking 12 year old girls who think you have nice abs. And read more than 1 thread before you post pics and then you would have known better not to post such senseless pictures.

You’ve got me wrong man. Im not even on myspace, its not big in ireland. we use bebo… And theres no way id put up pics of my body on bebo… Its inappropiate, its a social networking site.

Thanks for the encouragment bud! The fear of fat exists, however im still eating.
I stopped reading the posts on this thread after the first couple. you people are all just jealous idiots. Man, if someone has abs they are probably going to get flamed more than fat guys.
To the OP. You Asians crack me up. My roomate and old workout partner was Korean, you bitches stay so lean when bulking! Great progress, you have a few wholes in your physique but if you continue on the current path you are on you will be just fine.
Try to work on your inner quads, your out sweep is dominating though, just needs the tear drop to complete its shape. Back width also, really focus on your pull ups and in a few more months of bulking you will be just fine. keep eating, keep growing and good luck.
The idiots flaming you are just a bunch of disgruntled fools who dont like who they see in the mirror and need to rip on others. No sense in insulting a kid who is lean, has a degree of muscularity and is STILL BULKING. idiots.
if your not asian, my apologies for profiling you racially, you just look it with that foo man chu you got going on.

Legs im hitting hard, im still a bit sore from my sat session. I agree, my outer quad is dominant. Squats and leg press are my favs. Im gonna start doing a 20 rep squat for a few weeks now and see how it goes. Any tips for inner quad. Tell me bout this tear? Wat is it?
Believe or not its only been very recent sense my back has come on. I wasnt able to hit it. I changed some exercises but what did it for me was my mental approach. You put your mind into your muscles, ie. back , and within every lift, really focus on using the muscles deep with your back to perform the exercise.
When you say to work on the pull-ups, are you talking about the lat pull up (palms facing away from face)??

Ha Ha, i get that alot man. Im Irish.
However i can tell you, its better to be told you look a bit asian that ‘you look irish’
I say good work man…
I think you have a great base to work up from. Just keep at it. Dont be afraid to add fat into your diet either. HEalthy and even some saturated. And stick to compound lifts and just keep drilling them making more and more progress. The results will follow.

Thanks pal, Im upping the egg yolks, already eating nuts, and now adding extra virgin olive oil. Might get some peanut better aswel.
Great Paul, you survived a ‘rate my physique’ thread and clearly have your body and diet pattern down. Whole eggs, etc. were already suggested, glad you took the advice, I started focusing on bulking myself lately so I?m in the same focus. I think people should start posting what they eat for cheat meals or a grocery list to get a wide look at what you eating than just the optimal day.
Other than that, I like how the legs, back, upper are coming in. I agree with some of the negative posters that your first picture wasn’t best to open with, it showcased your abs, and they?re fun, eh? But it?s not what people are aiming for and I agree, it clouds judgment. Later pictures are much better, but it would have been nice to see a full body shot to get a scope of proportion.
The Luis RE4 facial hair look is fine too. Have a good one, looking forward to seeing the progress some months in.

Agree, first pics not the best… Gives me the knowledge of better posting in the future.
I was happy with my back after the pic was taken. I train my back very hard because i now its important, however was never really concerned with how it was looking. After the pic tho, im very interested in later pics of it! Im happy enough with my legs but i know they are gonna come on big time, have that feeling bout them, everything is gonna get super.
p.s The facial hair changes a bit.
Cheat meals consists of , snickers & maybe on a saturday night out iii have fries and a chickhen fillet burger. The place i go is good, its still fast food, however its always cooked fresh, its only cooked after the order is done, in comparison t.he mc’d or burger king where its just ready all the time.
I think these meals when adding mass are good, it just gives those extra calories that may be needed.
Hope your training is goin great and your eating is just as good. What kind of training are you doin?
I’m glad you wrote your cheat meals down, I find its good to be really aware of them and how often you have them. Having good quality cheat meals too makes you really appreciate them as opposed to a cheap fix.
I’m currently on “Blending Size & Strength (v2.0)” routine, you can find it in the archives, its great. My weight went from 149 to 165 during the process and my 1rm squat went from sad 225lbs to 305lbs; bench from 185lbs to 235lbs, the difference in appearance isn’t that significant yet but I’m sure it’ll come. Alot of it was that I never pushed myself that hard for low reps before.
off topic, I got a cousin in Ireland, dunno where exactly, around somewhere. Have a good one.
