You know that spot in your deadlift where you’re so close to locking out, and you’re straining, and screaming and the pain is so intense it feels like eternity and you either have to lock out or drop the weight?
It’s that exact spot. For eternity.
I wish you many lockouts (but hopefully she doesn’t lock you out of the house).

Yeah, that sounds about right. Or perhaps like Prometheus where you are bound to a rock for eternity and an eagle eats out your liver every day only to have it grow back.
Thanks everyone. I loved the deadlift metaphor, lol.
11-16-10 Deadlifts - Week 3, Wave 3
Conventional Deadlifts
8x135
4x225
2x315
5x440(75%)
3x495(85%)
2x555(95%)
Back Squats *Atg beltless, close stance… feet about a foot apart.
6x135
6x245
6x245
6x245
That’s it. Skipped abs since we have to lift tomorrow and will just do them then after bench.
555 was decent… felt heavy… but to be expected. I’m at 250 maybe a tad lower… from about 260 two weeks ago when I started the diet. Weight loss will slow down a lot now I’m sure. I’ve been doing cardio sessions in the AM also which effects my legs some but I am quickly getting used to it. After this cycle ends on saturday and we deload I think I will be more used to the diet and cardio and feelin pretty good to start up again. We have made some big weight increases but this next one I will only do 5 lbs for upper and maybe 10 for lower body. If I can just hit the same reps again with a little more weight while dieting I will be pretty happy.
11-17-10 Bench Press - Week 3, Wave 3
Flat BB Bench Press
10xBar
5x135
3x185
5x235(75%)
3x270(85%)
1x300(95%) *I didnt chalk my back and sled way back on the second rep.
2x300 *chalked and didnt move that time.
10x225
10x225
5x225 … lol… strength died. stopped before I failed.
DB Row
10x70
10x70
10x70
10x70
10x70
*Superset
Decline Situps / Hyperextension
10xBW+25 / 20xBW
15xBW / 15xBW
15xBW / 15xBW
That first set of 300 pissed me off. I’ve never sled back so much while benching. I suppose that means my arch and leg drive is getting a bit better… I dunno. With chalk I didn’t move at all though.
Going to just keep upping the weights on those DB rows. 70’s really aren’t heavy but my DB rowing strength is not that great so I’ll just take it slow for now.
Squats on saturday to finish out this 5/3/1 cycle. Instead of zerchers I will just go up in singles on back squats and see where I am at.
Oh, and I forgot my belt at the gym last night after deadlifts, and today I couldn’t find it. I looked everywhere so I’m pretty sure someone grabbed it. I really hope they are dumb enough to come back and wear it in there.
nice wok Jowee. Where is Meat at? Playin’ hooky?

I think he is just being lazy with his posting right now. You can just look at my bench session and imagine his by doubling everything, lol.
Congratulations on the engagement bud!
so…today i finished my third cycle of 5/3/1. we are going to take a few days to deload and start back up next saturday. here’s the last two sessions
Bench -actual max 560, working max- 90% 500
stuck with the prescribed reps. i recently switched back to a regular grip from reverse and i’m still tweaking my form.
warmup sets
0x10
135x6
225x6
315x6
working sets
75%- 375x5
85%-425x3
95%-475x1
315x10,10,15
dumbell rows
80x20x5
abzzz
skwatts- actual max 700, working max-90% 630
through a comedy of errors we only have one lifting belt between the three of us right now. i broke the lever on my belt for the third time and am still waiting to get it back from Inzer. Jowee left his belt in the gym after deads and someone apparently stole it.(i really hope they are dumb enough to wear it to the gym). so, we are stuck right now removing the lever with a screw driver for everyone. major pain in the ass.
warmups
0x10
135x6
225x4
315x1
405x1
working sets
75%- 470x5
85%- 535x3
95%- 600x1
speed deads- i tore my adductor a few years ago and it’s acting up a bit right now. i set up for my first set but it said “NO!!!”. luckily we have our deload to rest it.
that’s it.
thanks for reading!!!
Hey buddy… where you at? Hope everything is ok… miss you… sniff
Me miss Meat madly.
too busy with his coming out party?
Congratulations, Jowie. I hope you picked a good one!
Jowee- congarats,
Meat comeback.
Hey everyone, Thanks for the well wishes! She is definitely a good one. ![]()
I will get my training up later and start posting regularly again. We had a deload then I just didn’t get back to posting this week. Not sure if scott is posting up his training much but we did get a video today and I’ll get that up later tonight…
i have a couple sessions to log. I also bought a pair of squatting shoes. i’ve been squatting in chucks for years but they always end up ripping apart because i tie them so damn tight. i did some research and picked a pair of Pillars from Inzer. i tried them today and so far, so good. they have a slightly elevated heel which seemed to allow me to get some quad activation out of the hole. they are also high tops so i get ankle stability as well.
anyway… training is going as planned. so that’s good.
Here’s what i’ve done.
Bench - working max 510
warmup
0x10
135x6
225x6
315x6
65%-330x5
75%-380x5
85%-430x4- was supposed to get 5 but i got a wicked cramp in my lower back at rep 3.
accessory work
reverse grip bench
225x10
275x10
315x10
lat pull downs
somexsome
skwaaatts - working max 630
this cycle we are going to do them to a box. i’m also going to pause them.
warmup
0x10
135x6
225x6
315x6
65%-405x5
75%-470x3-was going to do 5’s but pausing these on the box was HARD.
85%-530x3
decided to do a single today to the box. hit a pretty easy 585 for a good pause. i’ll get a vid of it up soon.
585x1
was going to do some accessory squats but my adductor was shot
hypers and ab machine
some x some
that’s it.
