Jowie: I thought you were going to projectile vomit on that pull. Was a little disappointed you didn’t. Nice work staying with it. You took a lot of time contemplating whether you wanted to lock it out or not!
Yeah, you look pretty small. Hee hee.
overhead press’n- i started taking a preworkout drink with nitric oxid and other crap in it. i took it on an empty stomach this morning. it made me very jittery and on my overhead sets i started getting dizzy when holding my breath. on my last set with 265 i had to let out my air early and regain my composure because it felt like the room was spinning. i was able to grind out 3 more reps but i felt as if i was good for 10 today if i wasn’t so damn dizzy.
anyone have an experience with these preworkout drinks??

One of my gyms actually gave me individual packets of NO-Xplode. I tried one and had a bad reaction similar to yours. Dizzy, jittery, pins and needles in my extremities. Didn’t care for the sensation at all.

Diet is finally over… felt awesome to hit that PR after just dropping a lot of bodyweight. Now my goal is to maintain a weight close enough to compete in the 242 weight class and just slowly recomp a bit more. Hopefully I can start adding some size again but without the fat, and not feel so small!
My overhead press is definitely not my strong suit. My best ever is 3x185. 185 will be my heaviest set for this 5/3/1 cycle and I hope to get like 5+

Haha, yeah… I thought I was stuck but was stubbrnn. ![]()
I know I look small! The videos show it too… I’m workin on it though!! lol.
Maybe since I’m smaller but getting leaner I should just start training shirtless so I don’t look so small in my 2XL shirts, lol.
pre workout stuff is tricky. my old behaviours I can’t really do any more. I used to be so cracked out it was ridiculous. now I am much better out if I actually follow serving guidelines, and even then if I have had other caffeine it can end up bad.

i took it again today and once i worked up to about 315, everytime i would take in my air for liftoff i would immidiately get dizzy. as the weight got heavier it got worse. so… i’m done with the stuff. there’s nothing worse than trying to concentrate on your set and having to stop what you are doing until the room stops spinning.
skwatt’n- going to stick with front squats for awhile. they keep my shoulders healthy and i want to emphasize the quads. did triples up to a moderate weight.

Man I suck at front squats, lol. 275 I just couldn’t hold onto… dropped the weight back down and on that last set of 205 I tweaked my form and it felt way easier. That last 225 felt real easy after using the new form. I’ll try 275 again next week and I should be able to get it with no problem. I was using a wide stance at first because I was just kind of mimicing scott doing them, but then eventually tried a closer stance, letting my knees drift forward more. I think this made it much easier to stay upright and keep the bar from rolling forward. I don’t think my long torso is helping me out any, but it’s not a good excuse to not be able to do a front squat. On paper it doesn’t look like much, haha.

I missed that 350 with the titan but felt that I should have got it… oh well. Everything else felt really good. Strength is doing well post-diet. I am still eating healthy and not so many calories. I just want to lose a little more weight or just maintain and get a bit leaner.
Haha. Well tomorrow is the last day of band pulls… so I still have another chance to puke!! ![]()

pull’n- was hoping to work up to 800 today on reverse band deads but my legs still haven’t recovered from the front squat session we did on tuesday. my inner thighs were still cramping up yesterday. on my warmup sets today i felt my left hamstring starting to cramp so i shut it down. no need to pull a hamstring when it can be prevented. i’m going to turn my squat day into more of a rep day so that i’m recovered for deads for this next cycle.

Stopped there… wasn’t feelin that great after that pull. I could barely even keep my eyes awake on the drive home… guess I just wore myself out. Pendlay rows just felt heavy as hell so I just stopped.
Next week we start a cycle of deads against chains and I’m going to start out with multiple triples or something with some lighter weight so I don’t burn myself out. I know I am pretty worn down after those couple weeks of band deads. I had speckles all over my face and shoulders after today… haha.

Good night even though press didn’t go as well as expected. I felt like I was all over the place during that set. Oh well, it was still an improvement. Next week will be 185 and my best is 3. So I’ll get it together next week and get 4 or 5 reps.
Last week I only managed 8 reps on the first set and 6 on the second of the swiss bar press, so I was happy with those.
The rest of the workout was just a massive pump fest, lol (no homo). Felt great to do all that stuff though, and I need to keep it up with the curls. My biceps hurt sometimes and I think it’s because I’ll go months without doing any curls.
pull’n- decided to switch up our training a bit. Instead of having a squat day and a deadlift day we’ve decided to combine deads and squats on the same day. We are also going to emphasize hypertrophy with our squat variations. One day will be ME deads followed by high reps squat variations. The other day will be stuff like speed deads or deficit pulls and another squat variation for high reps. we tried it out tonight and like it a lot.
