Sternum Pull-ups

Anybody ever do these? Im having a hell of a time improving on them, while all my other back lifts are generally going up.

Yeah, I’m doing sternum chins. Got the idea from The 7 Best Back Exercises of All Time (I think CT wrote it). They are hard! On my last outing, I did Bodyweight x 10, 7, 6, 4. As far as any adivce goes, I first had trouble doing 3. But after a month, and can do the above. Keep at it and you’ll get better.

Is your display pic a chick in a thong or a lamp? I can’t look away…

I think its a lamp… but i fucking know what you mean…

Ya pullups man…

got to be a lamp.

I use these, picked up from a CT article like Trenchant. They were very hard at first, but now they are my favorite form of chinup, the motion feels good. Improvement has been slow, but that’s true for me for the other types of chinup too. I can do 8 of them (vs. 10 with pullups), or 3 with 35 lbs added. Sometimes I use a V-handle over a chin bar, but that puts the hands so close you can’t get as high. My favorite way to do them is to grab part of the frame holding up the chin bar using only my fingers (gives my palm calluses a break, trains grip a little differently), which lets me pull up and touch my sternum to the bar. No one has yet asked me what the heck I’m doing, but I like to think they’re wondering.

Thanks to ratm88 for mentioning the lamp. I totally did not see that. I bet women would see the lamp right off and wonder what we’re talking about.

Yeah i figured the lamp would be a hit here…

I dont like how fast i fatigue when doing the sternum pulls for higher reps… i wish there would be a way to add more resistance… but i just cant think of a way to do weighted sternum pullups…

Actually it’s not a lamp…

Interesting…

but if you look closely you can see its a lamp photo shopped in there upside down

Sorry, too busy looking at the hot chick in a thong.

Now I finally understand DB (or whoever it is) when he says, “I love lamp”.

Anyhoo, for weighted sternum chin-ups, just wear a weightbelt backwards, so the chains don’t harm your junk.

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAARR

“I love lamp… I LOVE LAMP!”

That is the funniest clip of a film ever made man!!

Hhahahahaaaaaaa
