im off training in thailand against soon and need more help about the body being in starvation mode.
Basically if your body doesnt get enough calories say only 800 a day your body would go into starvation mode right? so to stop this we eat around 1800 or so a day when cutting to create a slight calorie deficit.
My question is what if you ate 1800 a day but burnt 1800 calories a day aswell, ill be training 6 hours a day running about 10 miles everyday ontop of that padwork, sparring and bagwork.
so would this be equal to eating no calories a day? would my body go into stavation mode? or the fact that im consuming 1800 calories a day make it ok and my body would know i am getting something? Im lookin to cut while i train as to burn that fat off quicker any advice would be appreciated!
This is a good read. It;s about men who were experimented on with starvation. It examines the physological and physical effects of what you are talking about.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand, are you choosing to eat only 1800 calories and trying to go into starvation mode, or allowed 1800 calories and are worried about going into starvation mode?
im thinking of eating only 1800 and trying not to go into starvation mode, obviously if my body does i will eat more im trying to find out wether it would though
Activity, especially high intensity, requires glucose. When you aren’t consuming enough, the body will break down amino acids from muscle to convert to glucose.
If you replace what was broken down, you might be able to get away with something like a few intervals a week on low carb. But the activity you are mentioning would most certainly lead to muscle break down, and it would be accelerated by your levels of leanness.
At that tiny calorie load you body will barely function, you will lose muscle and you’re brain will be so tired you will learn almost nothing from your training.
Well, if your maintenance level of Calories was 2000 a day, and you only ate 800, you would be in a severe caloric deficit and more than likely go into starvation mode.
If you eat 1800 a day and burn 1800 a day, there would theoretically be no deficit, and you would stay the same.
Chances are good with all the activity you listed though, I wouldn’t be surprised if you burned more than 1800kcal a day.

Don’t cut while trying to do anything but cut.[/quote]
I think this is probably the thing you need to be most concerned with. If you’re going to learn MT, focus on that, not cutting. Honestly, if you’re training that much, you’re going to change your body composition.
If you are training 6 hours a day, you can afford to eat well over what a normal person eats (probably well over 3000 or 4000 calories) and still lose weight (likely even while gaining muscle).
Training like that, your body composition will basically take care of itself. And if you don’t give it the building blocks it needs, you risk being seriously unsuccessful in your training.
Try eating plenty for a few weeks and then you can make adjustments from there once you see how your body is responding to the training…
