i’ve been training on and off for the past few years now and have never really stuck out to doing a solid workout. I have tried full body workouts during a 3 day period, working on two muscles per session and also working on compound lifts for a short while.
I have never really been confident in what i am doing, but have noticed great changes in the periods that i have been training.
I would like to know which route would be best for me to take in gaining mass and strength. With so many different training styles, i would like a set workout where i am confident in what i am doing and also seeing significant results.
If you will do a search for Rippetoe’s Starting Strength, I think you will find a good, simple program that works. It is what I’m currently useing, and it helps a lot to have all the information right in front of you where you can print it out and take it to the gym with you.
I’ve used it to make my first training log, and having your exercises and poundages worked out ahead of time makes the program easier to stick with.
The program itself is simple, too. Just Squats, Bench, Dead, OHP, and Cleans (or Rows). I fully recommend it.
hit the compounds hard. and sacrifice weight for proper strict form. Dont Cheat. keep the reps in a low range 4-8ish and push urself to the limit everytime. also get your diet in order. aim for 2g of good clean protein per pound of body mass.
Good luck!
