Starting My Fitness Journey (16 YO)

It takes you to the post in your previous topic where I presented you with the book “Super Squats” by Randall Strossen.

Go obtain that book. It is available in many places.

i took a pic and gonna order it from amazon tonight thank you should I start learning how to cook or I can get away with eating high protein rn?

We don’t even know if the OP knows how to squat. If we are going to help him, let’s have him post a video of him squatting.

I have seen some terrible attempts at squatting.

I’ve deleted and bench before never squatted by I know the form my max dealift is 215 and bench is 165

I want for you, man; I really do.

I would divorce look better from get more confident. I know that’s nearly impossible for a 16yo, but it’s going to be a dead end.

The confidence will come from putting in the work. The gym is the most amazing place on the planet where you will get out what you put in - it’s rare to find that absolute honesty anywhere. Pick a measurable performance goal (i.e. squat 315) and attack it with reckless abandon (since you don’t care about your sports). You’ll get bigger and more confident as you go.

None of you will ever be better looking unless you go back and pick my parents, sorry.

Great way to learn. We all have to start somewhere. Hell he could start with an empty bar and progress every session. I rekon he would be OK by the end of 6 weeks. How did you learn to squat ? I just got under a bar after watching pumping iron and away I went.

i know how to squat i can deadlift 215 I know not that good because I say decent for a 16 year old who just runs track and plays basketball

nah my parents have the million dollar smile gene, my goal is to be able to bench 225, squat 350 and dealift 400 that’s my goal I have in mind and want to look better than the average person

Go get those. Either option @T3hPwnisher gave will be a fine starting map for training. You just have to execute!
What did you do today?

really

Thankfully, that book contains some awesome instruction on how to squat.

It should be noted my instructions are to buy, read and follow the book rather than just do the program. It contains a LOT of helpful information for a new trainee. Dan John’s “Mass Made Simple” has a great section on cooking too.

@Daddymilkers9202 You should learn to cook.

I think doing heaps and heaps on bodyweight squats for martial arts as a kid helped me a lot with the learning curve.

You tell me. When I was powerlifting in my late 20’s I could deadlift 650lbs, but could only squat 490lbs. (Performed at meets) That was a pitiful squat for how strong I was. I wish I had known HOW TO SQUAT!

gothca you just reminded me cobra kai coming out on Friday thank you

you seem like a strong mother fucker

The point is you can squat (anybody can squat) and you can learn how to really squat.

So much this. Confidence comes from achieving goals. Consistency is a goal you can hit, so are specific performance goals. “Looking good” is a moving target, its impossible to hit.
