What do you think of the standing vertical row ?
Is it a good exercise for the back ? What’s the difference with the wide VS narrow grip ?
Thanks
Certainly the back is involved from a stabilizer point of view. Upright rows can force the shoulder into a compromised position. It’s probably better with dumbbells.
In my opinion, power cleans or high pulls would be a better alternatives.

What is the difference between the upright row and high pull with regard to shoulder injury potential. I’m thinking that a high pull is the same motion as an upright row but with more involvement of the legs. Same analogy as comparing a push press to a standing military press.
The article I linked to explains it better than I could and Eric Cressey is more authoritative anyway. He give 5 reasons why they are better. I’m not going to list them.
