Staley's 300 Program?

I heard through the grapevine that Charles Staley is all about the “300 the movie” thing after seeing the trailer, and is developing training programs for it.

Can anyone confirm this?

If this is true, please sign me up!

The idea of a “300” training program will be on my wish list, to say the least. I bet it’ll be a killer (read ‘puker’), but if so, it’ll be worth it

Inspiritaion, thy name is Spartan.

Show me the Gates of Fire!

I don’t know, but it was Mark Twight from SLC who did the training for the movie. He was up in Canada for months…and the results are amazing.

Mark is a good friend, too…

I am writing this from Canberra Australia so chances are I won’t get to see it for bout 6 months!

BOW OUT!

Hey Dan

I see that both of you are in Utah…I’m gonna have to get out there, and soon!

Only a whore would try to make money creating a training program named after a popular movie. And Charles Staley is no whore.

Who said anything about “money?”

Coach Staley has posted a multitude of training articles on T-Nation for free. What makes you think this would be any different?

I think the T-Nation crowd, as the movie gets closer, will find plenty of inspiration for working out “Spartan-style” and if Coach Staley is willing to help out because he is likewise jazzed - I won’t think twice about trying his program.

It’ll work better than anything I’d have access to otherwise!

Ha ha, workout “spartan style” huh?

Well tell me there ironjohn how did the spartans train? Do you know? Does anyone know?

But according to the movie they did cool stuff huh?

L O L

Well I hope the movie inspires people to not be fat lazy sobs and improve their health.

And Staley makes good routines so if someone is going to get their routines promoted then it may as well be someone who knows their stuff instead of some kind of spartan ab machine on late night tv.

The spartans trained more extremely than I’d say anyone does today, they were nuts.

One of their favourite things was a drink made primarily of liver.

I liked the original of the movie, it was very enjoyable, and had some of the funniest lines of any movie

“oh what a cruel sense of humour have the gods, they take beautiful young women, and turn them into wives”

“they say there are more persians than there are starts in the sky”
“good - when I was a child, I always wanted to reach the stars with my spear”

It involved separation from the family, cultivation of loyalty to one’s group, loving mentorship, military training, hunting, dance and social preparation.

So maybe Staley could create a routine where he makes you move away from your family and learn a few new dance steps.

Also I think that loving mentorship you speak of is gay sex. The spartans were by an large bisexual if I’m not mistaken.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Over all it’s just a movie, I wouldn’t get all that exicted either way.

If you folks think training to be a warrior is so appealing, why not get in killer shape and join the Army Rangers, Marine Force Recon, or Navy BUDs/SEALs?

Lifting weights does not make you a warrior, even if you train really hard. So enough with this pretend warrior shit, okay? Unless you served, you’re simply playing make believe.

I’m thinking extensive running/marching in sandals, wrestling, and shield and short sword work, bodyweight movements, and general hard physical labor.

Imagine how the other gym members will stare… hahah

On another note, I’d like to see some examples of how much change the actors went through on their program, beginners or not.

Serving in any combat specialty (job) will get you in shape.

Shit, I’m still waiting for the “Fight Club” routine that promises to get me shredded and hyooge all at once.
