i was front squatting two days ago and noticed that the discs in my upper back seemed to be compressed under the weight.
do you guys keep your upper back muscles flexed and tight during front squats? i think relaxing the muscles there is a recipe for injury.
Tight as fuck. Elbows up hard.

How can you support the weight if your upper back is soft??? Do what ninearms said.
I have the same problem, my upperback stays rounded no matter what. Then again, flexibility there is horrible…
I consciously think about maintaining a solid, proud chest throughout, but it is effectively the same end result

Do you guys pull your shoulder blades back?
I keep my upper back tight and I force my elbows up as hard as I can, but if I retract my shoulder blades my arms are too damn long to get into the clean grip position.
Shoulders forwards, otherwise what’ll the bar sit on?

How do you know the discs are getting compressed?
Keep your upper back tight, but shoulder forward.
