You matched me, dang you, Spry. Now I’m feeling competitive. I’m going to try again tomorrow. This scale squeezing is fun.

How much could the large cousin squeeze?
Stupid digital scale. 48 lbs. I’d like to think it is low, but oh well.

Are you doing it right?
See above about not pretending you’re superman trying to make diamonds.

Oh, I’m doing it correctly. There is evidently only one pressure point on the scale. Anyway, I have a stupid scale.
I don’t know that you’ll be able to get the numbers your capable of if your scale is digital. Especially if it’s the kind where you have to wait a minute to see the number.
I just warmed up and practiced a little, and I squeezed 160 for a second or two, and then did it again just to make sure.
I also got 60 with my right hand, 50 with my left.

I just got 188 lbs, I’ll try it out later on today after I’ve woken up and eatin a bit more to see if that makes a difference…gotta break that 200 mark![/quote]
Nice! I’m pretty sure I’ve never hit the 200s in the dozen or so times I’ve tried this over the years. It’s a good goal!

My grandpa had him over to his house one evening and squeezed the scale and got somewhere around 200, and then handed it to the cousin and “BOOM 300 pounds”. The large cousin was farm raised and had a huge appetite.
Shizen,
I tried the Captains of Crush a few years ago at a friends house for a few weeks, and I think I could close the #2 for about 10 reps. But my memory is a little fuzzy, so, grain of salt.
I don’t work on grip directly, but I do work the forearms in both directions at the gym, with behind the back wrist curls for 135x20 or 155x12, and do reverse wrist curls on the edge of the preacher for 55x15. Also, like spry said, deadlifting helps work on grip (if you don’t use straps, of course).
dude im telling you people raised on farms are animals, especially in the grip. they dont look that huge but they are DENSE as hell and could crush your skull in their grip
1st attempt = 168
2nd attempt = 224
Wow, I thought I was going to suck. If anyone wants to call me out I’ll video it.
Weee just got 252.
I like this game.
PS. I don’t train my grip specifically.
Different set of scales got: 66.2kg (145 lbs)!

Jeez, man. What kind of scale are you using? (Just for informational purposes; I’m not questioning your achievement.)

Sweet. Excellent job!
UPDATE: After 8 days of religiously taking creatine (for the first time in 3 years), and NO-XPLODE (first time ever), I just tried my grip (after coming home from an exhausting, draining workout) and got 235 lbs.
I have no scientific background, and maybe those products are just a placebo but, dude, 235 lbs. And my wittle fingers aren’t even sore.
BTW, I’m using a Tanita BF-680 scale.

Nice improvement! At this rate of 20 lbs per week gains, you’ll be at 1145 by the end of the year!
You should progress your way in Captain of Crushes, they are one of the common ways people rate hand strength-many strongman use them- I would join gripboard you could probably make some serious progress in many forms of grip-pinch, crush, bending, and various holds like rolling thunder ext-

Thanks for taking the piss out of me, mate!

Farm boys are strong as hell no matter how they look.
So was at target and saw a scale out so decided to try this, got 220-235 on the like 4 different tries peaking at 235 on last attempt.
My grip was sore though since I was training grip today with CoC-and grip has been overtrained a bit- If i was fresh I think I could get 250+. I’m pretty sure some of the people on the gripboard.com could get 300+ fairly easily. -Since I can barely rep out CoC 2 for over 10 when fresh, but some of them can do that with a 3.5-
You really feel it in your forearms when you do this interesting grip test. I’m guessing you people getting over 200+ have fairly strong forearms from either heavy curls or direct forearm work if you don’t specifically train grip.
Nice job, shizen.
I finally made my way to the gripboards and found an old thread talking about this exact topic. Some scores of the members were (in pounds) 242, 260, 294, and 330! Also, there’s apparently a contest like this in Finland, and the winner got 374.
Which CoCs did you buy, and how often do you work them?

I bought a #1 and #2, to start off. The best way to progress is to do negatives- pushing a heavier gripper closed and holding it shut- I need to get a #3 soon as I feel I can possibly get it closed. I train them almost everyday -hah not good- but its only because they are so addictive and very good stress relievers. Optimal would probably be at least 3 times a week.
You should definitely get into grip its a fun hobby and it caries over well to lifting in general. Great way to develop forearm strength also-as well as hand and wrist strength obviously-. You seem to have well above average hand strength and could do well in various grip feats. Gripboard.com is best for learning how to develop your grip and such.
