Hi everyone,love the site
Just wondering what the benefits are of squatting with heels elevated,i.e. with your heels on small plates?Does it allow more depth or does it allow you to push more with your heels?
Thanks

When I didn’t know how to squat properly do to improper form and / or lack of flexibility I used plates underneath my heels. I found it hit my quads a lot more and now that I am pushing through my heels I have had to start all over again with barely any weight.
Oh well, at least I feel more confident that I am doing it properly.
yeah, im learning proper form now, and elevated heels help alot. Just work your way down till you can do proper technique with nothing under your heels.
In the long run this training can throw off your balance potentially increase the likelyhood of injury to the knee, but even this is debatable.
If you are using this technique to improve your squat technique I would reccommend that you work hard on your hip and ankle mobility so that you can achieve your squat depth without blocks under your heels.
Another techniques that you could use is to squat with a wide stance.
