Squats FTW

Thanks for the advice Stallion, I am thinking of doing this in a month or two.

Currently my max raw squat is around 180-190kg, I squat once a week and squatted 152.5 for 10 reps two weeks ago. (I’ve been training for many years)

A couple of questions:

  1. Do you think its worth performing the two week introductory micro cycle?
  2. Do you think its using a max of around 170-175kg to start?
  3. I was thinking of using rest periods of around 5mins, is this enough or should I go on how I feel, resting hear rate etc?

Thanks again dude

Thanks for the reply. I have just checked out the video. Now I see the difference between limit and Ultimate Limit. Very impressive.

If you push yourself to the ultimate limit, you will puke, even if you have timed your meals propely. Nosebleeds can also occur. Even if many lifters push themselves to the limit (they think), there’s often more to be had…

That being said, it is not always the smartest thing to do what strength is concerned.

Here you have a puke video:

I trained much like this for a few months this year. Does about nothing for 1RM strenght. Gets better at high reps…

As hardcore as it might seem, I think it is better to have a powerlifting plan, if one wants to get truly strong in the squat. But I admit, it is fun to push oneself to the absolute limit!

Thank you for the comment, and train hard![/quote]

A PR IS A PR…RIGHT! great job man, and good luck with your goal

You are one brave or insane individual to start Smolov! I wish you the best! Yes, if it is your first time, I recommend the introductory microcycle. I did this the first time, and was glad that I did. A max of 170kg seems like an idea. Then you can see how it feels, and possibly adjust it during the program, but beware, it is very easy to set it too high. Set it too high, and you will start missing sets, and progress might stall and injuries can happen. Not to sound negative, but it is a very hard program. However, if you have what it takes, you will get out stronger in the other end!

The rest periods, just go on how you feel. If in doubt, have more rest. Do the next set when you feel ready for it.

Thanks. The puking thing is something that can happen. It can come from many reasons, but if you push your body very hard, you will puke, no matter what. You could try some uphill sprints, and make a friend force you to continue even after you feel like dying, then you will puke.

Sorry that I just got around to sending my congratulations. But, you dont care, cause you are off to the far east (lucky bastard). That build up was awesome. I had to sit here and force myself not to talk to the computer. You are an inspiration from across the sea, my friend. Hurry back and post some more vids

BTW, I told my wife “that prick Stallion hit 250kg”. She laughed and told me to tell you good job.

You earned it! Congrats!

Awesome, great job! I fucking love watching someone bang out a new squat PR.

Kraft, I had not idea you were on here. I’ve been watching our videos to learn and for much much inspiration. You absolutely rocked that 250kg outta the park. Great job, once again.
