Indeed. Apologies to all for perpetuating the madness. Don’t know what I was thinking…
The original post said? he wants to train for aesthetic purposes and should he stop squatting?
1st Stop squatting? NO but reduce the volume and size will be less likely to happen.
2nd If he put that much weight on that quick then he should plateau out now so? welcome to the real world.
3rd Stop sport training and start bodybuilding he could use JKD for conditioning if he wants. Make up your mind you want to play sports or be a body builder. He said aesthetic purposes not me.

You know, as dead, decomposing and reanimated as this particular horse is, I’d be curious if anybody has ever taken a group of people who already know how to punch well (i.e. amateur boxers?) measured their baseline power in all the basic punches then running them through an intelligent 6 month+/- PL style program to increase their max squat/bench/dead and then re-tested them to see if there is any corresponding increase in punching power.
Of course this wouldn’t effect timing, distance etc, etc, but it might be interesting to see if there would be any appreciable carry over to raw power production. I’m not at all sure that there would be, but it might make for an interesting experiment if it was done well.[/quote]
I’d actually put my money on their punching power going up when just hitting a force plate, but part of that would probably be due to an increase in muscle mass (which wouldn’t be good from a competitive weight class perspective), and part of it would be due to their nervous system becoming accustomed to putting everything into a single effort (not great from an endurance standpoint). I also don’t really see how things like his conditioning, timing, and other skill related attributes wouldn’t be affected at least a little as they could not be training these as often while also putting time and effort into the strength training.
Like I said before, I think people get mixed up between raw punching power and effective punching power.
