Squat Shoe Advice for a Short Guy

I’m looking to invest in a solid pair of weightlifting shoes. The thing is, it’s going to be my first pair and I don’t know what heel height is going to work for me. I’m 5’5" and have been mostly squatting with a high bar, medium stance in a pair of Chuck’s for a few years now. Ankle mobility is decent and I have no problem hitting depth. So now the question is should I go with a 1/2" or 3/4" heel? The difference seems negligible on paper, but I would really like to get some input from the folks here with experience.

.5 should be more than plenty if your already able to hit depth high bar in Chucks then .5 will let you bury it.

That’s the direction I was leaning, because I see a lot of the more popular shoes like the Adipowers have a 3/4" heel but considering I am shorter than average I figured the amount of elevation that would suit me would be different than the amount for someone who is, say, 6’.

Speaking of Adipowers, does anyone happen to know if the heel height runs constant for all sizes? I’m a size 8 and it really doesn’t make sense to me that the heel size would be the same for the smaller sizes than the larger ones.

In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread, I found that most lifting shoes heel height runs constant regardless of the shoe size. The only shoes that I’ve found where the heel height is proportional to the shoe size are the nike romaleos. I’m sure there are others as well, but those are the only ones that I’ve found that explicitly mention this. Now I’m not really sure why this is the case, as I’d imagine a shorter guy with a smaller foot would need different support than a taller guy with a bigger foot but, I guess that’s just the way it is…

Now, on a side note, I ended up putting some small plates beneath my heels and did some light squats. At my gym the steel 2.5’s are exactly 1/2" and the rubber ones are 3/4" which worked out quite nice. Turns out I actually preferred the 3/4" height.
