I was lying on the bench about to get a set in when a 65 year old guy walks over to the bench to grab one of the 5 lb plates from the side of the bench. He gets the weight and walks away. I start to bench, struggling considerably to get the left side up compared to the right. I finish the set and go to ramp up the weight. when I check the left side of the barbell I notice this old man had added a 10 lb plate to the left side of the barbell. Guy could have gotten me seriously injured if I was closer to my 1RM. My left arm and shoulder hurt the rest of the day.
And then you informed him of his stupidity, so that it doesnât continue and eventually get someone injured ?
I think I wasâŠdeadlifting, and these guys took the rack in front of me and set the pins kinda high and then put down a yoga mat, and I was like, âcool, these guys are doing lockouts, havenât seen that in a while.â Turns out what they were doing was some kind of alternating leg raises while holding up 135. Sigh.
Those are probably floor wipers, itâs a part of the â300â workout.

god not that again haha. i remember 2ish years ago when that got huge, my whole gym for about a week became a massive, lightweight circuit training center. the amount of people endlessly deadlifting plates amazed me.
I always find it funny whenever Menshealth releases a new issue and they got that section on like âHawt Ab exercises or Big Thick Pecsâ or whatever they are going on about, those exact exercises they list in that issue seem to be qued up at gym and becomes the new âthingâ to do⊠I remember when woodchoppers was the new execsise in the magazine, my dad reads it so I grab the mag when its time to hit the number 2 at home, and everyone at my gym (virgin active) were busting woodchoppers left right and centre for about 2 weeks and now I havent seen anyone do one i like 3 months lol
Not in the gym but somewhat related. I was at an old arcade yesterday playing pool with some cute girls and some friends when these two little punks walk in dressed head to toe in tap out gear and asics wrestling shoes. There was a game where you hit a punching bag as hard as you can for points in the corner of the room that they started to use.
Had headphones on and were âin the zoneâ. Every time they punched the little toy punching bag theyâd look over at me like they wanted to start a fight. After about 45 minutes of this bullshit they both started grabbing at their arms like they were really hurt themselves and just walked out as My friends and I all howled with laughter at them.

Anymore when I see people do stupid things in the gym I overlook it anymore. But when a Personal Trainer does something stupid and when they claim to specialize in strength training. My FUCKING HEAD WANTS TO EXPLODE!!!LOcal Y, Mr dumb ass .MR strength specialist is doing high bar squats with 315 with a 1/4 ROM .The Bastard is 8-10 inches high from hitting depth. He does 5 reps looks like its killing him. Then after his set he does leg press.YOU GUEST IT he loads it to 1000lbs.Where he does 5 reps hands on knees and his ROM is 3 inches max.And this dumb ass gets paid to train people there.WTF???
I see some crossfit hating going on in here⊠Iâve recently started using some crossfit workouts as conditioning and it is hard as shit! I even had a crossift guy come up to me after my âcrossfit warm upâ and started chatting me up about crossfit stuff⊠I didnt drink the Kool Aid though I told him that was my warm up and then I was going to do it again after my regular lifting and he just looked at me dumbfounded and I walked away
