Squat Press

I’m looking to get into Olympic lifting and this was listed as an exercise to do.

Squat Press (SP)

* Bar is placed on racks at shoulder height.
* Place bar behind the neck, and grip with snatch grip, step back from racks.
* Squat to a full squat position, toes to 45 degrees, feet slightly wider than shoulder width.
* From the full-squat position, press the barbell to overhead arms fully extended.
* Recover by standing.
* At the end of movement, lower the bar gently to back of neck/shoulders, and then replace in racks.

Looks pretty bad ass, gonna give it a try on Thursday.

Aka “Sotts Press”

they are mad fun, enjoy it!

Sotts press = evil.

Start VERY light on these and do them when the gym is nearly empty. If you’re going to look like a fool, best to do it in private.

OHS are easy in comparison.

TNT

These are pretty awesome. Go light as TNT said and if you wanna try something equally as evil try snatch balances.

yea snatch balances are the only other thing that build sick stability like that

Snatch balance looks like a reverse squat which I want to work on as well.

Snatch Balance = Drop Snatch right?

This sounds a lot more difficult than snatch grip behind neck presses, I’m gonna switch em out and give it a try on Thursday too

Yup. It should be a quick drop under although I sometimes see people mistakenly doing a push press followed by an quick overhead squat. That movement is more of a ‘press under’ than a real drop snatch.
