Squat Form Check (VIDEO)

Any and all help appreciated.

looks really good to me. Looks easy too. Only thing I would say is maybe get in the habit of holding it for a second once you are finished. If you have any intentions of competing, that’s a good habit to get into. But overall, looks really nice from what I can see.

Squat looks good, you keep a nice arch the whole way through, and you hit parallel, I’d like to see you go 2 inches deeper just to make it look a little bit better, but either way it looks good.

One thing, your calves look pretty tight, you’ve got long legs, and if you sit more in between your legs instead of back, and let your knees go out over your toes, your going to stay way more upright, you’re going to find it much easier to go down those last few inches, and it’s just going to be a much more pleasing looking lift.

The only other thing, is that you sort of drop into the squat, I’m of a mind to stay as tight as possible on mach lifts, and you look a little loose, altho you executed the lift extremely well.

Why don’t you include a couple more angles?

Good squatting man

Good spine, work on your depth a bit if you want to compete (stance modification maybe, hip/ham mobility, shoes, etc.).

Thanks for the tip guys. Lately i have been descending much smoother and I get a nice pop out of the hole when I do descend smoother instead of the jerk you saw in video.

Im liking the stance, just need to get comfortable with breaking at the knees instead of hips.

And ill be sure to hold it at the top like a rack command.

Great attitude man, but break at the knees and hips at the same time, nice and smooth, then accelerate to the hole.

will give that a shot saturday

I would suggest going lower. I would have given you a red light for this lift if I were the judge. Judging is based on the hip not the hamstring. Here you were an inch or so high but very close. If you were in a singlet it may have passed. I’m not trying to nitpick or bash. I just believe in leaving no doubt in the judges mind that it was a good lift so I train to go beyond parallel.

Other than that things look pretty good.
