sorry for all your frustration…now you know better! It was a learning experience for you, so now you just have to make sure you learn! Question though…had you not been keeping a very close eye on your weight before the meet? I guess the training aspect came first, huh? Dieting and cardio sucks, so I feel your pain there lol…I’m still trying to ‘make weight.’ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Good work on making your lifts though!!

I kept an eye on it, but I tend to overestimate the amount of weight I can lose from “walking around” to “weighing in.” I really shouldn’t get more than two or three pounds from my weigh in weight, life would be much easier that way. :-)[/quote]

I tend to underestimate. Both times I’ve been light. My weight class is 123 and I weighed in at 120 which isn’t good either. I’m paranoid that I’ll be at 123 and then suddenly bloat and retain water. Somehow I don’t expect they’d be all that sympathetic to period bloating and whatnot.

Hopefully it just takes practice to hit closer. It’s kind of like “The Price is Right”. Get as close as possible without going over. Maybe I’ll win a dryer.

FYI Ron - Friday lifting at RMLC is out, Saturday is the hubby’s birthday and it will apparently be a long weekend event.

Lifting Thursday and Saturday morning at my gym will probably work best.

Tuesday and Thursday - cardio

Tuesday - bike/The Wire 45 minutes

Thursday - 15 minutes farmer walks with 45lb plates and 55lb DBs, 2 minutes plate swings with 45lb plate, 4 minutes Tabata method back squats with 45lb bar, 10 minutes bike.

GEEZ! That’s a hell of a cardio day on Thursday! I am normally spent after 1 TABATA lasting 4 minutes!

Yeah…people in the hallway messed up my farmer’s walks so I went tabata. The bike was s-l-o-w!!!

Saturday - heavy benching

No spotter, so I had to be creative.

The coach prescribed a single max with a four-board. At my gym, there are no boards, so I took a yoga block (6" high) and belted it to my chest with a rubber tube.

I really do wonder what the other people think of me.

I set the power cage safety pins so that when I was arched, I could push the bar up, but the bar rested on the pins when I dropped the arch and pulled my chest in. As I didn’t have a spotter or lift-off person, I would roll the bar onto the yoga block and contract into my arch (as best as I could) to break the bar from the pins and begin the press. This in itself was quite the entertaining workout and I definitely could’ve gone higher if I had assistance.

Bench lockouts - 5x95, 3x135, 2x175, 2x185, 0x205, 0x195, 3x190. I could’ve had 200 no problem with a liftoff. 12x170, 10x170, 6x170

Blue tube band pullups - 9, 6, 5

Seated DB presses - 8x35s, 6x37.5, 5x40

BB rows - 2x10x115, 8x135

Triceps kickbacks - 3x18x15lbs

Bodyweight bench dips - 12, 10, 12

Concentration curls - 3x8x25

This is the stuff we need a video of. Never mind the super impressive 370lb squats.

What is a concentration curl? I know what it sounds like to me but I tend to be a smart ass so I thought I should ask…

It’s where you stare at the dumbbell REALLY HARD until it moves on its own. They are exhausting.

Okay…kidding. Here ya go!

That just means that you’re just not very strong in The Force. At least as not as strong as I am. :stuck_out_tongue:

Use the Force Luke

LOL! That is pretty much what I was thinking too so I had to ask

Ahh ok, I didn’t know they were called that, thanks!

jinx

Now that would make a great video…lol

Think the USAPL/IPF would approve these?

Not the socks but the shoes … abso-freaking-lutely. They are squat shoes for the new millenium.

I love the socks though. Seeing stuff like that makes me wish I had someone to wear them for.

Hahaha, the heel might be higher than the 7mm limit, lol.

Shit, there’s a height limit? I better send mine back then. That’s a shame because power lifting just doesn’t seem to have the same sex appeal as bodybuilding and I thought we were making some headway.

Never, lol. I was wrong though it is 5cm…oh well. I have seen some fuzzy slippers show up at deadlift time though.

Well, I’ve just kinda felt crappy all week…getting a little bit of a cold. I worked out yesterday, but definitely didn’t work out hard.

Walking lunges - 3x15 steps/leg with 30 lb DBs

Glute ham raises - 6x6

Single leg calves - 100 total (roughly 10x10)

Back extensions 5x6 with 35lb DB

Plank with 45 lb plate on back - 2x60 seconds

Well, last night was supposed to be benching with the shirt, negatives with around 200. We did it at home, because I am not strong enough (yet) to drag hubby to the gym against his will.

It didn’t go so well.

I warmed up just fine, put the shirt on, tried 175, and could barely unlock my elbows. We worked on the shirt more to try to get it higher up my arms and deeper into my armpits, and went for 205. Still couldn’t touch, and smashed my hand against the bench holder thing re-racking the weight.

Back when we were young and foolish we bought a bench set that is narrow, rather than wide. Not an issue if you’re just benching for fun, but the width is such that I can’t even use my normal grip width without smacking my hands up.

Anyway, couldn’t touch with 205, and I need to work on getting the shirt on without the coach around. Very frustrating workout, if you can call it that.
