Shame on you!

I think I need to try out those Windmills. I could use the extra hip stretching (very similar to triangle pose, too).

I hit 295 after the 285, a 20 lb PR, YAY, but I screwed up the video and missed on 300.

Great lifts! The 275 looked effortless and the 285 not much harder. 315 is just around the corner.

Did you pull in yoga pants to make up for ditching it on the weekend?

looks pretty good. just a couple small things that are very common mistakes.

first off, i like your set up. you don’t stare at the bar and you appear to take in a good breath.

as you are breaking it off the floor you allow your hips to rise first, your knees roll in a bit and you aren’t pushing your hips through.

this weight looks pretty easy for you but i would guess when the weight gets heavier, your hips shoot up faster and you end up getting your lower back into it to finish.

really work on starting the lift from the hips. that means forcing the knees out really hard and feeling the hips initiate the pull. if someone was watching you, they should see your knees pushed out on the way down and then as you break it off the floor the knees continue outward. allowing them to roll in is your bodies way of shifting the weight to the quads right off the bat. the quads are a big part of the lift but on the initial pull the hips should be doing the work. they are much stronger than the quads.

lastly, as you feel the bar start to move and it gets close to your knees, really force the hips forward. this will keep the bar close to your body, keep the lower back out of the movement, shorten the ROM and give you a much forceful lockout.

keep those vids coming:)

you have a ton of natural strength!!

Thanks a lot, everyone. I really appreciate it.

Meat, I can sit here and feel the right way to engage my hips and push my knees out, but I’m still having trouble with translating that to the gym. Maybe we should hold powerlifting events in my office. Thanks so much for the advice and I’ll try to vid next week as well.

Ouroboro, I always pull in yoga pants, unless I’m in equipment. I hate capris and I feel too exposed when deadlifting and squatting in shorts. Shut your mouth.

Try speed pulls to help with the form- do 5 sets of so of 1-2 reps with about half your max and focus on what meat was talking about.

I agree with the others - NICE looking pulls! That weight (285) is not your max. I’ve got to try that setup without looking at the bar after I’ve got my foot placement - just feel for it on the way down.

Jennifer and Dan Gaudreau gave me that setup when I was first using equipment. I had trouble getting down to the bar without rounding when I looked down. The suit pulled me either round (when looking down) or into a stiffer arch (when looking up), so looking up and keeping tight on the way down helped me figure out how to use the suit.

Yeah, I absolutely think this is right. With the 295, I could feel my hips rise first, and my lower back wake up a bit. I was SO PISSED I screwed up that video! I went to turn it off, after thinking I’d turned it on for the lift, and just got a video of myself trying to watch the video I hadn’t taken…

great Pulls
PMPM you are one strong chica.

3 plates is not far, great work
Meat is a good coach.

Post that please.

That’s like one of my videos from my first meet. On one of my squat attempts it showed me walking away from the rack after the lift then about 30 seconds of the floor and various people’s shoes.

Good pulls, keep pushing!

Wish I could see youtube, but…good job none the less.

Sorry, unable to offer any advice, I was to busy looking at your ass.

Nice pulls! Do you pull Sumo when you compete?

Yeppers. I have tried conventional, but I just can’t seem to do it right. I am much more comfortable sumo.
