Soldiering On

No, I agree. It sucks, and it’s unfair, but as you can’t change it, you’ll just have to vent your wrath in the gym. When does his tour finish for proper?

Nope not right at all but ya all got to keep trucking along. My tHoughts are with you and your family Betty.

I’m trying to say I <3 u

A photo shoot how splendid. Hubby’s tatoo idea is tres sweet.

Cal- he is supposed to come home for good in June.

Ct- Thanks. ( I think?)

Thanks n8t- your right, all we can do is suck it up.

As for his command, all I can say is that this is a prime example of why reenlistment numbers are low and so many people go UA…when the commands say “oh we are all about supporting our members and their families” and then pull this bs? Utter bollocks, imo.

The man is supposed to reenlist to finish out his last 6 years. At the moment, he can’t think of one good reason why, accept to milk all he can from the govt.

On the training front:
Yesterday was shoulders/arms…my weights aren’t heavy enough, and I was doing 20 reps on some moves to ‘FEEL THE BURN!!’ On this day when I get my own weight stuff, I will add in MP on my own.

Today is day 4…1.5 hrs of yoga…
hahaha…ya, right!!! Not with a 3 yr old at home…

I will do cardio instead…
Tomorrow is legs/back…my back is still sore from Tuesday!! On this day, I will add in Dead lifts…

Chest back day(I will add in bench press/bent over row)

Basically attempting to use p90x as my accessory stuff, I guess??

I can see it will be hard to train at home Fri and Sat with kids pestering me every 2 min for something.

But this is about stepping out of my little bubble and trying something new. And I hate starting something and not finishing it. I will give it my best, but I gotta admit, I’ve already tried talking myself outta this and back into it several times! I like the gym…and they have CHILD CARE! lol

Girl, I can’t believe you are still after it! Good for you.

Was over here placing an order and thought I would check around, saw your name and thought I would say hi.

Been along time and I am going to have to catch up with your journal. To me you are doing great. You have stuck with lifting and dieting for a long time. I am still lifting, but age things are getting in my way. Suffering from tendonitis in elbows and shoulders and won’t seem to go away. Life has been very stressful this year and of course I have put on some weight. Can’t seem to get my head wrapped around getting the diet back in check. I am not totally off, but just enough to be on the pudgey side again.

Good luck with your new endevors and will chat at you later.

fitnesslady

You know, I think the child care at the gym is a super important piece of the puzzle. Training time is YOU time. Being mommy every 2 min. during an at home session might not give you the mental break that you so deserve.

That said, I’m all for mixing things up and trying something new. Its great to see you gettin’ after it!

Karen!!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
yep, still after it…
Diet is key and the most difficult. Maybe try not think of it as a ‘diet,’ but making better choices? If you want something yummy, allow it, but only a SERVING(thats a toughy too…who eats 1/2 cup of ice cream anyway??!)
haha…

Kimba! I managed Kenpo Karate just now, and my daughter did fine!! She came in so often to check me out, but thats about it.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes. I’m sure not every time will be perfect, but thats life.

So Kenpo was pretty cool. I musta been working hard enough cause I’m sweating! yay…plus I wore my ultra nerdy HRM, and it got to 170 at one point! I’m not the most coordinated, but I’m sure that comes with time. In the beginning of the warm up there were some yoga-y poses and stretches…and MAN! I haven’t been stretching enough!! Bad Betty…

sorry about EVERYTHING going on.

Plyo is good, i think youd be surprised how sore you get. The Yoga is LOOOONG I would split up the first 45 min and the last IMO

I also “added in” more leg work. More pressing on shoulders/arms day etc. Who cares if you modify? Do what you need to do to stay with YOUR goals.

Glad you had fun with the kenpo! I think I disliked it mostly because it paled in comparison with my karate experiences. I’m an HRM nerd too - I love having my numbers!

I have done the P90x and it was okay for me at the time I did it. I did not do the kenpo and very seldom the yoga, cause of the length and I can’t stand Tony. What a douche that guy is. It does feel good to go thru the program cause it was a goal and yea that is nice. Some of it was a challenge and some of it wasn’t, as you are finding out.

I also did not do the ab ripper every time, it just got BORING - but I did get good enough to get thru it & kept up with the ding dongs on the t.v

I like the idea of doing P90 as accessory! But i also like to workout to some capacity at least 5-6x a week. So does this mean you’re still doing the gym w/os 3x a week and then the extra p90 stuff?

Dude, seriously, i’m going to write an effing letter to someone if i keep hearing about how shotty the military system is…these people put their lives on the line for us and we can’t even afford them time off?! Breeaatheee…

I love all the closet p90x stories!

Hey Upscale! Plyo sounds cool, but I worry about my shoddy knees. I was thinking of rucking it instead. I’m not excited for 90 min of yoga…maybe 30, sheesh!

LS- your right. But for a non karate person, I thought it was ok. something different anyway!

n8t- lol@ Tony being a douche and the other ding dongs!!! haha!!
This is the reason why I can see not completing this program. I like to do different stuff all the time, but maybe there is a lesson I need to learn here. Stick with something and get really good at it.

Maschy-
Here is the break down of the program:
day 1-chest, back, abs
day 2- plyo
day 3- shoulders, arms, abs
day 4- yoga
day 5- legs, back, abs
day 6- Kenpo
day 7- rest

Thats for three weeks, then you ‘deload,’ for a week and the program changes around during weeks 5-7…deload week 8,and then you are hammered again weeks 9-12…with a final deload week 13…whew!

I’m trying to work in the ‘big lifts,’ somehow so I’m not totally outta the gym for three months!
can anyone see something I can rearrange?
I think plyo is going bye-bye…I can either go rucking, or hit the gym for squats/deads every other week, rows and bike hill sprints…shoulders are good…yoga???
The other legs/back day is ok…kenpo is ok…but that could also be another gym day for something else…

although my knees are feeling stiff from it earlier…grrrr.

And before anyone says don’t stress over it, Im not stressing…it’s good to think about other stuff!!! Actually while I’ve been at the gym training my people it takes my mind off everything…

lol n8tive! I always thought that Tony wanted to get it on with Dreya.

If you plan on regularly doing the yoga vid, give the stretch vid a try once in a while in place of the yoga. It’s shorter, but hits most areas from the neck down. That is if you find you want a little change as the weeks go by.

haha closet P90xers, not really. I know you gals are a little more serious lifters.
Ive done a few rounds of classic x.Then I needed more leg work. Did another program that hit legs more which was about the time I stumbled on this place. It was all cool getting lean and “fit”, but I wanna be like the big girls hehe. Legs and back …just not enough leg work.Im sure the next one coming out will.

No for Dreya and Tony, her hubby actually does the infomercials.
He was over the top in the vids but I almost always did it with my ipod on.
Kenpo didnt do much for me either, that would be a good day to hit something else.
I thought it did really good with back, which you have a crazy ass back already…
I can see this fitting in as accessory work.

we’ll see how it goes.
I’m all about getting out of my comfort zone, but Tony Horton(and the ding dongs!) may not be the answer…

What am I thinking?!

see?, talking myself out of it again haha

legs/back(more abs, yawn)

The ‘legs day,’ is ok…more like a lot of ‘finishers,’ in one workout, with pull ups in between.

KIDS= BIG distraction…but I got through it.

Some of the moves were questionable. My left knee is barking way more than my right. the hurty-ness is most evident going up/down the stairs. I think it was the jogging in place from yesterday.

I’ve been loading up on MOVE FREE(glucosamine+MSM) and taking my fish oil regularly.

Gotta hit the gym to train my people…this is there 3rd to last session…I hope it’s done something for them, but I really don’t expect to ever see them back in the gym again. Unless they pay me to keep inflicting da PAIN!!! (j/k) sort of…

Also the gym is doing there 3rd annual Biggest Loser thing, so I’ve been asked to jump in with the class while Im there this morning.

Wow, hearing the story from a real “Army Wife” and not the tv show are two different things!
Not that I ever watched that show though.
But super sorry about that, I guess there’s not much to do though to fix it?

90 minutes of yoga is bullshit.

yes, 90 min of yoga is cRAp!!!

Today= stretching, a leedle bit of yoga and ‘foam,’ rolling…

My back is STILL Dom-y…and everything starts over tomorrow with chest/back.

But here is what Im thinkin:

shoulders/arms(home)
squats/deads+bike sprints(gym)
Rucking(supposed to be PLYO)
chest/back(home)
Legs(home)
Kenpo(home)or more chest/shoulders/back+bike sprints(gym)

hmmmmm

There’s no easy way about this is there?
I could stop fucking with it and just follow the damn program.

I’m definitely getting the short bars(dbs) and all the plates for the weights, but changing my mind about the bench…realistically we don’t have all that much room…I’ll see what it looks like tomorrow.
