Soldiering On

W.T.F?!?! UGH! I’m sorry about the hubby MiM. Sucks.

Soooooo, you’re liking the high reps eh? HAHA! It is nice to feel the burn isn’t it? Yes, that’s right, come to the dark side MiM…that’s right…12 reps…hm…how about 15? bwahahaha…BWAHAHA!!!

I’ve never tried P90, but from the infomercials looks very much like the conditioning work i do, so if you’re digging the higher reps, you’ll probably like that shiz too!

Mim, that’s terrible news about the leave–I’m so sorry!

Just droppin in to say hi Mim. whishing you had better news to share. I suppose the good thing is that you get to see the hubby one way or the other. right?

Sorry, MiM that blows.

:frowning: that sucks for sure :frowning:

Seriously!!! Heads up their asses…so. unfair. Fuming over here.

I really, really hope it will all work out somehow.

You are not having much luck, are you? It does seem terribly unfair. Can’t say much other than hang in there.

ya, it does suck…

shall I choose the red pill or the blue pill? haha

I can’t even be mad or upset or any of those things. It’s the Military. You’ve heard why people have to wear name tags on there backside right? Its so the gov’t can see who there screwing.

It’s becoming more about rules, regs and what Mr Jo Schmo has to say and less about the family’s feelings and the service member involved. HE has to go through this…no one else…
He is in a high stress environment…to make him come home to another stressful environment, BACK TO that hellhole, can’t be a good thing.

I drive up this morning to meet with the Dr and go over the MRI results. I’m assuming then he will give me a surgery date.

Good luck with the docs Betty! Stay strong girlie.

Good luck. I’ll be thinking of you today.

Sorry to hear about the crap luck :frowning:

I did p90x in 2009 and got pretty good results - mostly on the chin-up front. You do so many chin-ups and pull-ups in the program. I’d certainly trade some of the days for heavier work (like you’re thinking) because most of the chest work is done through push-ups (though it is challenging) and the legs workout is SEVERELY lacking - lots of BW and light weight stuff plus chin-ups. You’d certainly want to supplement with squats and DLs.

The arms focused workouts were pretty fun (in a brotard kinda way - CURL!) and I always got a pretty good pump. You’ll get sick of the Ab Ripper X pretty quick if you follow the schedule. I’d skip the kenpo DVD too -it was pretty lame cardio.

Plyo (which isn’t really plyometrics technically) was a very challenging almost HIIT type workout. I actually quite enjoyed that one because it wiped me out every time. It might not be very kind to your knees though.

The yoga DVD has its merits, but is way too long. Core Synergistics was kinda pilates like I guess.

That’s my opinion anyway!

Good luck with the doctor today.

thinkin’ bout u and ur fam!! =+)

Well, I don’t know any more now than I did before. The Dr tried to go over the images from the MRI, but the computer kept freezing up. He gave me the chance to ask questions, but everything is pretty straight forward… :idk:
I did ask about her going to the dentist, and he said to hold off on that…so Im glad I asked…
I managed to retain some piece of info from my anatomy classes! haha… The teeth and the heart are related in some way.

He also mentioned, about possibly speaking to a genetics counselor to investigate any underlying conditions in Julia. There are certain syndromes in females that can also cause this sort of heart defect.
He assured me that Julia doesn’t appear to have the main one he is thinking about(Turner syndrome) but he wants us to feel at ease in an all around fashion.

No stone unturned! No I didnt tell the Hubby this, shhhhh…And no I didnt tell him that there is a valve in there he wants to keep an eye on AFTER the surgery. He thinks there is a possibility that the main problem is creating enough pressure that he can’t fully see what the other things are doing until after…

Still no date, so Hubby is still waiting. Poor guy was scheduled to leave that country next Friday to be on his way home…its what we’ve been counting down to this whole time. Now they are pretty much putting everything on hold until “they,” find out when the surgery is.

The surgery people will be calling in the next day or so to set everything up. If I can somehow push it back to the first or second week of March, then there is a chance that some people over there will push for Matt to come home as scheduled. He’ll have to fly BACK there and then turn around and come back HERE. There is a rule somewhere someone made up that a service member can’t stay home longer than 30 days or some BS like that…so that’s what the big stink is.
If the surgery is in FEB, then he’s pretty much screwed.

SIIIIIGH

LS- thanks for the p90 critique.

But if I modify the hell out of it, it wouldn’t be p90x anymore! ha!

Overall, I need to do more and make it more challenging(hard!). I haven’t been doing enough plain and simple. I can’t go to the gym 2-3x a week and expect what I want to happen, happen.

Thats the moral: DO MORE WORK!

I sent my wife the link to your log, she’s endured some of the same issues while I’m deployed. Good Luck

does the military provide you - or could they refer you to a geneticist? One of the reason why i miss working at the University of Minnesota was the extremely good healthcare. Germany…not as much, you have to go to private practice. If you can get an appointment at a Univ. hospital - a big research one- I would recommend it. Especially if they think it’s somethign like turner syndrome. Good luck! Let me know if I can help.

Sorry to hear all the crap news MiM, heep your head up, you’ll get through it all.

aw man.

hugs MIM hugs.

Mim–sorry that you are still living admist so much uncertainty. I’m hoping the unknowns start cutting to your favor. Thinking of you.

Thanks again my e-friends!

ya, it sucks, but we’re sucking it up…thats all you can do really.

DK_9…hey there. Sometimes I forget that others outside of the PW forum reads this stuff. Thanks for stopping by.

Bre- as long as the specialist is listed in the insurance network, then we’re good to go. I’m fairly certain there are geneticists in the big hospitals…
Children’s in DC is supposed to be one of the best…at least on the east coast.
