After being good for awhile, I caved and had an obscene amount of birthday cake last night…
By the end of the night I hadn’t eaten all day, so it was bound to happen.
I made sure to eat before I left to bring cupcakes to J’s class…no cravings or urges there.
Today is back to normal…tomorrow I can’t say I won’t have at least one cupcake blush
So after giving it some though, I am going to give a push/pull/legs type split a go. It suits my lifestyle and goals at the moment.

WOW! Mims you are looking great! Your food intake is looking really good to me too. Everybody’s gotta eat a cupcake now and then. And the pics of you and the kids are so cute. I hadn’t seen a closer up of your smile. Very pretty! I also have a bit of the strength vs. hypertrophy debate with myself. It’s going to be swimsuit weather here, and I really don’t want to be on a bulk! Decisions, decisions…
Thanks Cal-
I was just straightening up his room and found a note that he wrote to a girl ‘asking her out.’
What does that even MEAN to a 9 yr old boy??? (she said YES btw)
I told him that he can have as many friends(girls) as he wants, but it doesn’t have to be more than that.
Teenage years are gonna be rough!
Thanks Ppuff!! I feel good with the choice I made. And the beauty part is, is that we are free to change our minds at any time.
Your kids are too cute. My daughter is nine too. I’m also worried about the teens years.
Glad you choose and are excited about a training plan. I enjoy your log because there is so much progress to be observed here. And I see a lot more coming.
Hola, MIM!!
Yes, I’m still around
About your split…what did you have in mind for leg days since you’re gonna throw in DLs on your shoulders/back day? Why not just do all things legs on one day?
Also, if I recall correctly…were you doing the gluten-free thing? How’s that working for ya? I get horrible, debillitating allergies in the spring and I’m thinking I need to clean house just to see how I feel and it that will have an overall effect on my seasonal allergies… lowering inflammation in general.
I don’t know…I consider DLs a back exercise. It’s pretty much hitting all the muscles in the back of the coronal plane… Hmm, then again, if my back is tight, which is usually the case, doing legs would be tough…
I suppose I could do it on leg day? Or squat/DL every other week.
I’m mostly gluten free, with the exception of having something every once in awhile…pasta and cake are like my kryptonite…
The site of it alone makes me weak.
And I’ve read of heard that you don’t truly have an allergy or sensitivity to something and if you completely get rid of it, then your to become sensitive or have an allergy to it!
Personally I feel better without it…and when I was growing up I really DID have an intolerance. So my sneaking suspicion is that you don’t just grow out of something like that. Granted I’m not puking when I eat it like I used to, but I still don’t feel well with large amounts.
I only found this out from my mom 2 years ago when I was researching hypo-thyroidism and its’s relation to food intolerances…

You could do that, just make sure each session is rediculously brutal enough to make up for it!
I’ll get it figured out! But with kids getting out of school quickly approaching it’s tough to commit to 4-5 days spent in the gym, kids didn’t really like it either.
So I’m trying to take the lifestyle approach trying to make everyone happy. Three days a week always seemed to fit anyway. Always just enough to feel like I did something and enough time to recover…shit, my legs are STILL sore from Monday, LOL!
Plus, I’m trying to get my cardio on in between days
If I ever I feel like I’m not working something enough, I can add it in at home as well…
Funny side note- I put my daughter in room to 'calm down,'like an hour ago and she fell asleep

Oh man, that’s the best when that happens! Sure beats having her bang on the door for an hour! (Not that mine would do that…)
Check out Scott Yard’s log of Elitefts, he’s a raw PLer that does squats and deads on the same day. I see alot of people do squats and then rack pulls, looks ok to me. Anyways I’ve never chosen to do it myself so who knows!

Your life will never be the same from here on out =)
You’ll never know what works for you unless you try. Try squats and DLs and see how it works for you. Don’t just make a decision because it doesn’t work for someone else necessarily. I often squat and DL on the same day, gotten PRs on both on the same day quite a few times and my CNS is just fine lol
